Re: Anyone get legitemately creeped out by Echoes? It's not Nightmare House, but Metroid Prime is a very atmospheric trilogy, and Echoes is by far the creepiest. Part of what Metroid has always done so right was get the feeling of an alien environment right. No other game I've ever seen managed to really COMPLETELY present an environment teeming with life that genuinely and distinctly looked like another planet. That should be creepy.

Re: Anyone get legitemately creeped out by Echoes?I remember the first time, and every time I play Prime 2. Is that I turn up the volume a bit, just to make sure that the atmosphere was right nearby, every where I turned. Its been awhile since I played P2, but now I that have a tv with a headphone jack, I may just restart my save, to relinquish more fun moments.
Nightmarish moments.. finding the wormhole gate within the Space Pirate lab. Only to be sparked to fight Dark Samus, then getting pulled into the vortex and the other side. 2nd) Watching the last video made by the GF team that was sent there, only to be attacked. 3rd) Finding the hard way, the dark world energy can kill you. And panicking when your life bar goes to zilch because of some irritating boss. |

Re: Anyone get legitemately creeped out by Echoes? The only creepy parts for me were when i saw the end cutscene, where dark samus reaches out before she dissolves, and when samus gets out through the portal and the warrior ing come through, the fact that they didnt dissolve in the sunlight, and that they were all clamoring over eachother to get out(although it's more "oh shit!" scary than creepy). Also, a minute of highly improbable fridge horror: The rezbits, they download a virus into your suit that shuts it down. Imagine if you were in Dark Aether, and had no way of rebooting the suit, and you had only shot a light BEACON, and it ran out. How fast do you think you'd die. Also, if you were even in a light crystal's field, you still wouldnt be safe, because if there was a warrior ing, and it tried to possess you, whats to say it would't that time; The fact that the shield may not give out when the power does. Thats it. Also, if the suit gets shut down underwater, and the air recirculater stops, she would either suffocate, or drown, or if she's deep enough, her suit may crush inwards, rending her asunder. Think about it.
"Screw breaking Prime wide open. We've just given it a damn autopsy"

Re: Anyone get legitemately creeped out by Echoes?Yeah, I'm playing though Echoes for the second time now. I'm nearly finishing (collecting Sky Temple Keys now), and, after almost two years since my last play, it somewhat feels like a fresh experience. Of course, the Trilogy version is much more fair than the original one, with bosses like the Boost and Spider Guardians being less of asses (though it still annoys me how so many of the game's bosses, like the Boost and Grapple guardians, are invulnerable for so much time), but it's still fun and challenging.
I enjoy going back to the previous areas every four or so abilities to escape from the storyline and just hunt for expansions for a bit. Beam ammo is somewhat annoying, but it's not something that's constantly bugging you, especially after you get two or more expansions. I really like how they fixed Prime's issue of having too little save stations by making more hub rooms. While in Prime, most of the rooms had one entrance and one exit, Echoes had a lot of four-way rooms, which, as you got more powers, allowed you to choose your path easily. Out of the three, Echoes has the most straight-forward plot: Go do this there, then do the same thing over there, then go do that again there and finally come back here, but that doesn't make it any less interesting. The cool thing, for me, is that Echoes introduced a world very different to what we knew before in Metroid. While Tallon IV had various similarities with our well-known Zebes, Aether was completely unlike any previous Metroid planet, and felt a lot like a natural world. Finally, it's a game that never lets you stop thinking that you can die at any moment in it. And that's what's creepy about it. I still don't know which one is my favorite in the Trilogy, but I'm certain of one thing: it's one hell of a trilogy. |

Re: Anyone get legitemately creeped out by Echoes?
I almost cried from the nostalgia. Why would they cancel making Metroid Prime Trilogy? I got my copy, yes, but it is the one MUST OWN game for Wii owners, and yet now it's completely exclusive! Granted, Gamecube copies of Prime 1 and 2 are plentiful in used game stores, but still, it's not an easy way to get new players into a series like Prime Trilogy. You really hit the nail on the head with Echoes. The planet Aether is completely unique and presents environmental danger that feels completely new. |

Re: Anyone get legitemately creeped out by Echoes? The corpses and DS's phazon particles always got me good and creeped.
I don't know if it was because I was depressed when I first played the game, but the situation with Bravo team just made me really sad for some reason. It colored my whole first playthrough- my goal was to find a living soldier, and of course that just didn't happen. If you could've saved just one, it would've made the game for me. They were just caught up in something that had nothing to do with them and died. Of course that changed in Corruption, where you could save a bunch of random guys. ![]()

Re: Anyone get legitemately creeped out by Echoes?Yes, Echoes did creep me out but, the most I've ever been creeped out in any Metroid game was in the Valhalla and metroid containment area in Corruption, those were defiantly the worst.

Re: Anyone get legitemately creeped out by Echoes?I happen to be playing this right now- its a fun game, especially since I went into it with rather low expectations haha
I got freaked out in torvus bog when I realised grenchlers can swim Dx And I have a little panic attack whenever I see dark samus. Whilst simultaneously thinking- how could I cosplay that? |

Re: Anyone get legitemately creeped out by Echoes?
The grenchlers always bugged me, mostly because they're obviously a recycling of Prime's sheegoths. |

Re: Anyone get legitemately creeped out by Echoes?I was 8 when Echoes came out. After 30 minutes I ran to my mom and screamed "The Ing are gonna get brother and turn him into a ZOMBIE!!!" (my bro is a marine) after that I don't think i've be creeped out by Echoes. The Valhalla in Corruption still creeps me though. Not so much the metroid containment area I kinda like watching some of the metroids go back and forth in their tanks... back and forth... back and forth, back and forth...
My Metroid Prime 3 Corruption is corrupted... Wat?
