Considering I created the topic and I still have 4 days before becoming 2 years old, that is impossible. An year and 10 months, more accurately.

Not sure if I have posted in this topic before, but with Prime being my introduction to the Metroid series, I have to go with Prime. Super is only a hair behind, though.

Also, the 3DS browser is better than I expected. Posting from it right now!

The answer to this question varies depending on which game I'm 'into' at the time. It's usually Super or Zero Mission. I love them all, but the 2D titles are my favorites. Also, Super Metroid Redesign is better than the original Super, but I don't think hacks are canon for the purpose of this thread.

Metroid Prime 3 or Zero Mission. Metroid Prime Trilogy wasn't an option and I would've picked that one in a heartbeat. The environments in Prime 3 were so unique and fresh for Metroid because there wasn't the typical underwater space station, nondescript rock place, and volcano land (Visit the new Volcano Land theme park! LOL JK). Bryyo Fire wasn't Volcano Land like Magmoor Caverns but it was about ancient relics alongside fuel processing plants. Hardly volcanic.

Metroid Prime hands down. I love the fact it feels like a 3d version of super Metroid, but while being its own separate game. Super Metroid is great, but I'm not a side scroller fan.

Metroid Prime 3. This is a win win situation, because I loved how the Hunters are corrupted, and you fight them. Gandrayda gives you one of the most helpful items in the game. The Nova Beam is sexy. Omega Ridley was an epic win. Need I say more?

I'll briefly state why each game gets its placement for me (the N64 is a fine console without a Metroid game, but that is the only knock on it)

1. Prime - My first Metroid game, and absolute favorite. No game beats it, in my mind. The music and the areas together is pure brilliance.

2. SM - I don't think I need to spell out why this game is amazing, but it's a VERY close second to Prime.

3. Echoes - A fitting sequel to Prime, because it kept all the great elements of the first game. Everyone whines about the ammo system, but in reality, the game would be ridiculously easy without it (spam Dark Beam at light enemies, and Light Beam at dark enemies and bosses). Annihilator Beam is one of my favorite armor upgrades.

4. Pinball - Yeah, this may surprise some of you. I love Metroid, and I love pinball, so this game was an instant hit for me. Oh, and I may hold some kind of record for Multi Mission on Normal (if you want me to post my score, I'll do it).

5. Metroid 2 - This game seems to be forgotten among the community, for the most part. The Tunnel is a great theme, and the Queen Metroid is THE HARDEST BOSS BATTLE in any Metroid. Most satisfying credit roll of the bunch.

6. Fusion - Linear gameplay is my only gripe. Fusion's a great game besides that. Its difficulty is second only to Metroid 2, but still a great game.

7. Metroid - An absolute gem from the 8-bit era. I've beaten this game without using NARPAS SWORD, and I'm very proud of that accomplishment. My 4-7 are truly interchangeable.

8. Corruption - Just didn't stack up to the other two Primes, IMO. Linear, and rather boring to play through. Rundas was cool, as were the Aurora Units, but I didn't like Ghor or Gandrayda.

9. Zero Mission - It's a remake, with a little new part at the end with the Mothership. Didn't like the remixes of the soundtracks, either. They could have done much better.

10. Hunters - Sylux, Kanden, and Trace were pretty neat. However, the gameplay sannd story sucked, despite reading the lores. It makes sense to the rest of the game, but it still sucks.

11. Other M - Overhyped, could have been so much better on many levels. Anthony and Adam were good, everyone else sucked (including Samus).
