I expected the game to be all action no classic metroid puzzles. Wrong! I loved the puzzles in that game.

It build Samus as a character and person i can relate to by giving her a personalty. She often feels alone, like nobody understands. When i play any of the other games now, i think of Samus as the same woman from Other M.

I personally think Other M gave us a chance to know Adam Malkovich. All of the other games never even showed his face. It also opened up a world of learning to do heat runs.

To me it seems that all the Gameplay elements were pretty good, but the story and monologues weren't very good.

So basically Team Ninja:  , but Sakamoto

I only just discovered this thread. I've been sick of the M:OM hate so I was avoiding that forum altogether.

I don't think I can add much here. Obviously M:OM is not as bad a game as some people like to gripe about.

Personally, I love the gameplay and the graphics; a beautiful transition into 3 dimensions (not to be confused with 3D!). The story was good, despite the drama and anti-climactic conclusion; and the excess of mystery makes for some great discussion. I absolutely love the wave beam in this game!

One last thing ...

"Little Birdie" is technically not a bird by any definition, so no; definitely not.

(I still think that the Chozo had something to do with the existence of Ridley, but that's neither here nor there because it's all based around half-assed fan-fiction and assumptions based on appearances... Also, doih.)

I still hold strong that Other M was a pretty decent game. ...It just wasn't all that replayable. I don't mind a good linear game (especially if you can skip all "I'm not in control anymore!!!" bits), but this game just doesn't offer enough rewards or variance in gameplay to justify more than two playthroughs in a row. I still stand by all the great things I said about the game earlier in this thread, even if I don't remember what they were right now (don't blame me, it was a long time ago. The game was pretty, can't fault it there.

I agree with how i don't feel any different playing other Metroid games. See, i always figured Samus as a person who bears a lot on her shoulders and because of the amount of weight she is bearing, it alienates her(mentally) to a point she doesn't really feel very many emotions and when she does feel emotion its in the midst of a very intense situation and her mind us overflowing like boiling pot. Think about things she bottles up. And everyone shits bricks about the Ridley scene. THAT was one of those intense situations where her mind was overflowing and that whole flashback thing happened. If you think about all the things that happened previously in the game that is emotionally stressful that she let bottle up, yes it makes sense she froze like a deer caught in headlights. And her crying about Adam, well no shit!! Thats a REALLY intense situation!!!!Do i think they could have...made Sam a bit more "masculine" like in Prime. Juuuuuuust a bit.

It kinda bring me to how i think Samus hits things a lot to deal with stress. Like walls and stuff.

Other M i think was very replayable. I do it all the time, Same with Super. Even though i know where im going, i love doing it over. As for Adam, i like that they developed him finally. I really wanted to know about him and while i and everybody was picturing a romantic relationship, we still got strong bonds between them (that i still don't follow XD). At first i though it was poor development fir his character that was just "sigh i guess we have to put him in here..." Then they brought up Ian. And suddenly you see Adam differently and see different emotions in his face. And it was pretty explanitory to his assholery.

Basically this for me... which is kinda funny considering all the pre-release faith Sakamoto had over Team Ninja.

But I did love "Any objections, Adam?" and I also loved the final city cutscene with Samus and Anthony. Notice any differences between Samus in those scenes and her in, well, the rest of the game?

M:OM did far more right than it did wrong. Last weekend I finished Prime - Corruption with 100% and then decided to play a little M:OM and the contrast was amazing. M:OM just feels so much more like the early Metroid games and the speed was so refreshing. Don't get me wrong both are good games but M:OM is the one left with the poor reputation, mainly due to the on-line ranting of a cadre of overly obsessed fanboys
