How you read the scans(and the voices you give them)

Postby Warhead » 07.25.11 3:55pm

Sometimes, when I play any of the Primes, I read the scans out loud or in my head. Sometimes, I come up with voices for unique scans like the Chozo logs and the Pirate logs. Does anyone do the same thing? If so, what voices do you use?

For me, I have a few voices for the logs:

-In the Space Pirate logs, I read them in an incredibly deadpan tone, as if the writer of these logs is completely disinterested in his job, and is somewhat disappointed with his peers and their complete and utter stupidity. It helps with the "Science team has vapor for brains" log and that one with the... gruesome results of copying the morph ball.
-The Chozo logs are the opposite of the Space Pirate logs, far wiser and heartier than the Pirates. Essentially, they're Christopher Lee as gigantic bird people.
-The voices in the GF logs in Echoes are far more distressed and terrified, trying to stay under control when they're basically being invaded by Dark Splinters. Only worsened by the fact that their lives are about to be taken away from them.

I don't really give them any voices because they seem devoid of personality.
Even the strongest of people can have their faith broken. Mine has.

I subscribe to the mental narration services of Morgan Freeman, Christopher Walken, and Mitch Hedberg; so everything I read ends up sounding like one of those three. It's entirely random every time.

I do the same as Warhead with the Chozo, but I tend to think of Trooper logs in Echoes using voices in the styles of random characters from the Aliens movies (lol, crossover). Space Pirates change depending on department; more action oriented logs (like most of the Echoes ones) I imagine in a generic guttural growling getup.

I always saw the Space Pirates as running around scared, insanely making logs, panicking as the Phazon and Metroids go out to get them. :geemer: :metroid:

When I read the scans, I read them with my voice.

Space Pirates voiced by Mitch Hedberg... epic win.

When I read the pirate logs, to me the space pirates either sound very confident and proud or worried and concerned depending on the situation.

I give them a low, gravel-y voice, similar to their roars. I also give them the voices of the Halo Elites when I'm bored or Halo's on my mind. The Chozo...I give them James Earl Jones' voice, because they are that mystical and epic.

I use the same voice of Ben Yahtzee Croshaw since I can imitate that voice.

I always apply a Morgan Freeman narrative to everything for some reason.

This thread is funny! I always imagine the female voice you hear, when you scan a new entry, to read all this!

Yesterday while playing MP3, I talked in Ghors voice, Failed....My voice sounded Dark, and light at the same time, and it also sounded like Will Farell....

I tend to read them in a kind of monotone male voice. Like, the codex entries from Mass Effect, but with less bias. :geemer:
