as someone who has been around the zelda and mega man message boards, i've seen fans go into tons of details about their favorite characters. the metroid fans have been no different, but i got to thinking. why not have a feature on the site, detailing the specs of samus' power suit? for instance, speculation on how each part works, how the arm cannon can fire different types of beams and how it forms these different beams. for instance, how can at one moment, it fire a superheated plasma shot, and the next, a high powered electrical shot, and at other times, a paradoxical mix of weapons, because we all know plasma is superheated atoms at erratic speeds, while ice is the exact opposite.
i think it'd be great if we could take actual data from the metroid games, and what info we don't have, formulate on our own based on what we DO know.
the only thing i would recomend however, is keeping it in a format that can be updated as necessary, since new games can come out and make former speculations outright wrong.
well, let me know what you think. figured it was worth a shot.

mostly, but a bit more technical, with pictures included perhaps? like, click on a part of the armor, and go to the data on it.
a full site feature. basicly, taking what you did, add to it, and turn it into a section on the site. i think it'd be great myself. no other metroid site has done it to my knowledge
and then maybe we could address that pesky paradox of combining the ice and plasma beams, as seen in various metroid games. maybe a section on the various types of weapons used, like you have there. maybe as a subsection of the arm cannon.

As a concept it sounds interesting. As a potential design project, I'm intrigued. However, if it's just fans making up explanations of how Samus' suit functions and contains mostly unverifiable information then it sounds more like fluff in a pretty dress.

I eagerly look forward to any explanation that can explain how samus can fit over 250 ballistic missiles in one arm cannon.
Go ahead; I'm waiting.

each missile is actually a small bb-sized device filled with explosives and also a holographic generator that makes it look like a missile because the monsters wouldn't take an exploding bb thing seriously

No offense, but no. Especially that "wouldn't take an exploding bb thing seriously" part. It's good if your enemy underestimates your attack and is hit by surprise.
I personally believe the suit stores all those missiles as pure energy and converts them to matter when shooting.

A huge part of sarcasm is tone of voice. Since you don't have that when you're typing, you need to use some other method to show it, like smileys. You seemed pretty serious in that post. Lack of punctuation also makes nonsense posts seem like the person really doesn't know what he/she is talking about. Not necessarily your case, but I believe you understand.

Well I thought it was funny... A feature on Samus' suit might be kind of interesting, though I can only imagine the type of research you'd have to do to get that accomplished. It would require lots of collaboration with the fans to ensure there's some kind of agreement on the function. And I don't think even then you would have an acceptable explanation for things that are essentially game mechanics (i.e. 255 missiles in a small gun, morph ball) other than 'highly advanced Chozo technology that is like magic'.

the missile thing? thats easy to explain.. like her in morph ball mode each "missile" is stored as energy in those huge shoulders of hers. As she needs them, they materialize into a physical object. Its the same idea with morph ball bombs. This way it saves on space and weight as energy doesnt weigh anything. VGM out...

Don't feel bad, okey; I never use smileys or bad punctuation to indicate my sarcasm and I'm often misunderstood as well.
VGM's explanation is more or less "Chozo Magic" but I totally think we've got something going here with the hologram missiles. It makes so much sense.

Why do they even need to be missiles then? Why not like, tungsten spikes? Why even turn them into a physical object to begin with? And why is the energy stored in the shoulders. That doesn't seem safe those shoulders are really easy to hit. Plus, what about Zero Mission and Fusion where the suit doesn't have enormous shoulders? How come the light suit doesn't cause you to hold less missiles cause the shoulders are smaller? What about Other M where the shoulders are really really big but you only get like 17 missiles... ...my head hurts. (and yeah I'm aware of the irony here)

Lol okey. I made that explanation on the spot. Didn't give it any thought. But i do like my energy theory. They could materialise for aesthetic reasons? But if you look at prime games the missles are exactly what i said. They look like energy. Vgm out...
