I guess the suit was repaired at the end of Fusion, just with a different appearance. The fusion suit was the just power suit with parts lobbed off anyway.
It was cool how you could download data into weapons/armour/ect.

Re: What is your favorite suit?
WHat was it Sakamoto said about it? She was returned to her former nature, or something. I'm assuming that means the limitations of the Fusion suit were nullified, but I imagine we could see some more new abilities in the future. Don't be pushed by your problems. Be led by your dreams.

Re: What is your favorite suit?
Someone on here said that it meant her she is the same as before the x attack. I don't know if I agree with this, as it seems like waisted story/gameplay material. How cool would it be if the metroid DNA made itself more... evident? MZM Hard mode 15% status: Complete

Re: What is your favorite suit?Like how? You want Samus to sprout fangs, grow a translucent membrane, and start sucking energy out of creatures like a vampire?

Re: What is your favorite suit? Here's how I understand it. Samus' normal Power Suit is divided into four layers. First, the bikini we see in the classic endings. Then the Zero Suit, which I imagine acts as an interface between Samus' human biological systems and the suit. I'm sure the Chozo managed to come up with a better one, but modern technology (IRL) is most likely a neuromuscular sensor that senses Samus' muscular impulses as they travel through her nervous system. Anyway, then we have two layers of armor plating. The first one is probably organic in nature, probably some sort of organic steel. A neural-net computer is probably housed in here as well. Hell, the computer that the suit uses is probably split into sub-units that unite to form a network. This is the suit's underlayer of armor. Atop this is a completely mechanical, more durable outer shell. It's what houses the shield projectors, sensory arrays, Arm Cannon, etc. Now consider the X infection. The X infect every living cell they find. This includes the brain cells that make up a neural net computer as well as the ones that make up Samus' human body. The X probably fused both of these together, and embedded itself so deeply as to make surgery impossible without killing either the neural net or the Hunter wearing. Also consider the inorganic (and thus uninfectable) outer layer. Can you say "X Hive"? They had to amputate the outer layer to remove those X, but failed to do so before the X within Samus managed to hand over some of Samus' genetic material. (The human ones found in her cells and the Chozo ones in her bloodstream.) These two ingredients are what made up the SA-X. The outer layer contained most of the gear required for the advanced abilities to function, thus SA-X got them all. Basically, the Federation went the way of the Chozo to root out the X. They injected Metroid DNA into her bloodstream. From what I can infer from real-life genetic science, the Metroid DNA interacted with some DNA and RNA polymerase and some amino acids to turn her blood into a constant supply of medicine. The medicine being the proteins the Metroid DNA codes for and what Metroids' bodies would in turn utilize to enable their X predation abilities, but in Samus' blood acts as an antibody to fight off X infection. This coursed through Samus herself, and because of the link to her suit computer, her suit as well. But we still have the problem of having large portions of the suit gone. This is one of the reasons why all the abilities don't work (the other reason being the suit computer was damaged by the X and its memory was corrupted). This is where the Federation engineers come in handy. They devised a way to "fill in the blanks" with Samus. Instead of the normal external armor layer, they used an impact-resistant polymer "skin" designed to improve flexibility. It probably has variable elasticity, allowing it to be used to augment Samus' strength, and is semi-rigid to absorb hits. This polymer should have a tubular cross section, allowing billions of nanotubes to be bored into it parallel to its surface. These nanotubes may contain a conductive gel which allows the suit a little more flexibility as well as doubling the skin as a gigantic, flexible circuit board. Its weakness is that it isn't quite as strong, and cannot project a defensive screen around itself as efficiently. Remember my mentioning that the suit computer was probably corrupted somehow? The Diodes on Samus' new backpack are basically supplementary memory installed by the Federation to improve the memory capacity. The backpack is also a mounting point for replacement hardware which Item Downloads take advantage of to operate. Samus upgrades this suit as normal...can't have the Ice Beam as Samus' Metroid-laced blood would attack it and cause an immune reaction. A giant conflict between Samus' immune system, her Metroid vaccine, and the Ice Beam would be an increasingly cataclysmic chain reaction that would end up with the death of Samus. Enter the SA-X, who is a perfect copy of Samus. If Samus absorbs the SA-X, the DNA of Samus that it possesses acts as a "save state" allowing Samus' bloodstream to revert to the way it was before the infection. Thus, SA-X cancels out the Metroid DNA. Samus does not recover her amputated suit parts, but she manages to free herself of the Metroid shackles and bring her new Suit to its old operating capacities. I could go into even GREATER detail, but I'll hold off for now. It would involve in-depth biological, genetic, mechanical and medical examination far beyond the scope of this simple overview of how I believe the Fusion Suit works and in what state it ends Fusion. Re: What is your favorite suit?I always figured the Omega suit just was like an extra layer of protection for Samus that conveniently protect her body from her ice beam via extra layers and abilites not changing her DNA to a no longer Metroid, Human and Chozo hybrid.

Re: What is your favorite suit?My favorite suit is the classic Varia. Orange is my favorite color plus it's the most iconic suit in the franchise.
The Phazon Suit's color scheme comes in a close second though. I always feel incredibly badass at the end of Metroid Prime. |

Re: What is your favorite suit?
I have a hypothesis how that worked...and why we shouldn't expect Samus to go around her Metroiding business anytime soon. "Repairs", Chapter Six. By: Thunderchin My own fanon of course. I do end up with Samus "regrowing" her armor in a sense. ----- I'm in love with the Fusion Suit, myself. ![]()

Re: What is your favorite suit?Honestly, I have to say the Varia suit has to be my overall favorite, but since that is Samus's basic suit, I guess I should probably state my favorite besides the varia suit. And that would be the Gravity suit. I guess I just don't like it so well when the shape actually changes.

Re: What is your favorite suit?
QFT
I'm much the same. I like the Varia best, though the normal power suit is actually neat to me because the shoulders aren't just big spheres, so it has a nice aesthetic that I enjoy. I think that Hazard suit is the most fugly thing ever, and I'm really, really not fond of Retro's new suit designs. I think they're all pretty heinous and not very Metroid-ish. |
