Honestly, I love the game, as you can tell with my Username and all . I got the game the first day it came out in the US. I actually waited like a month and a half after my brithday to get it as a birthday present and as soon as I turned it on I loved it. This was not my first Metroid game as I've played all of the Primes, Metroid Fusion, and parts of Metroid and Super Metroid. Never Metroid 2 though. But, Other M blew me away! The gameplay was very entertaining and the controls were flawless, I had no problems with 'em, well except when my Wii Remote died shhh read at your own risk
Fighting the Queen Metroid on hard mode
And well, I don't have time to write a whole review RIGHT NOW but I just wanted to share this with this being my first post and all. Don't kill me.

Well, welcome ! I did enjoyed too , yes the control are very neat! But mostly , people complained about the story not the gameplay. And I'm astonished ! You love the M:om gameplay, but didn't play metroid Zero mission, Super ( all of it ), Metroid 2 ? . M:om is an adaptation in 3D( the best one ) from those 2D game !
Here's 3 of my game in progress if you're interrested (1) (2) (3)

Thanks! Well I can't really complain about the story, I liked it, even though it had some poor word choice and doesn't develop some of the characters like the Deleter and such. But, I would play it over and over and over again. And Chipou, you're right, I just didn't know where to start

Welcome to the forums. I hope you enjoy yourself.
I'm glad that other people who enjoyed the game are showing up finally. No offense to the guys who hated it, but 2 months of hate and b*tching doesn't make people want to talk about it anymore.

Amen to that. They don't like it, that's fine. That is their opinion. But like IE said before, they are going as far as scaring off vets and newbies from this game. I do believe newbies and long time fans should AT LEAST give this game a shot. Like it or don't. That will be up to the person individually. Take Hunters for example. It was okay for me. Wasn't the best, but I somewhat enjoyed myself. If anyone asked about it, I'd say, "Try it for yourself. It was fun/okay for me, but that was only MY experience with it." Feedback is important, no doubt when trying to get a good feel for something, but ultimately, what is most important is the individual's experience with it.

I couldn't agree more, I don't really like M:OM and I like to voice my opinion of the game but some people are acting like it's the end of the world. On one fourm on a different site one guy said that M:OM murdered his soul, on another site someone said the game is the begining of the end of games with female a protagonist that isn't a princess. The hate this game gets is LAUGHABLE!

Wow, I'm really glad that I found a topic with this title. While I do like Other M, I have to agree it didn't do everything right. But watching people complaining about the game over and over about the same thing for months seems to be a problem. Actually, the reason I came to this forum was because I got sick of the japanese forums, and wanted to see a place where fans could at least explain what's bad about the game. Not denying every single Other M fan by "YOURE WRONG!" plus a few words.

Huh, the japanese gamers also hate the game? Could you elaborate (somewhere else perhaps), what did they disliked? I wouldnt be surprised if Ninty used THEIR feedback.

Well I don't remember every single thing that they have complained, so I had to check the forums again...
People there don't complain that much about the story. They're not satisfied with it in any way, but they just care more about the game system. Lack of item collecting scenes are especially one of the subjects what fans keep on shouting about. Aaaaand... um The missile system, sensemove being too easy (I bet these people try to play every game in the easiest way possible and complain about it), sometimes about the instant-kill traps, as if they're hard to dodge... That's... quite much everything. I guess haters themselves are getting tired to type the same sentence over and over again, so some just simply say "what good did that game have?".
Voice acting is also one subject, but mostly just because english in any kind of form souds much better to people in Japan. Even though most of them can't even understand a single sentence what they're saying. But I must agree that Samus's voice was a bit high-pitched than what I imagined.
That must be all. Became quite a long post...
