http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2011/12/m ... interview/Shigeru Miyamoto announced that he'd be stepping down from his current position, and would be leaving the Mario and Zelda franchises in the hands of folks like Eiji. He's not leaving the company though: He's just going back to his roots, concentrating freely on his own stuff, like before Mario and Zelda got crazy popular.

Wow that sucks. I really wanted that to be true. Miyamoto actually making games again is a good thing, especially if he was going to do small scale stuff.

It seems he will in fact focus on smaller projects and on training newer people, but he isn't leaving his position of director of Nintendo EAD.

It's good that he is training new people, but I will miss him. Miyamoto is an incredible game designer. Hopefully he starts some more new awesome franchises though.

At this point it is really up to him what he does and does not do. To be honest, I don't think it'll make much of a difference.

I think all he was trying to say is that he's done with working on games that have 5-year development cycles. He's probably just too old and tired for it anymore. I applaud him for having the balls to say it, I doubt anyone else at Nintendo could. I also love how once again, the gaming media EXPLODES on this non-news, and takes NOTHING with a grain of salt...

After Twilight Princess, I knew that Shigeru Miyamoto would soon reach a breaking point of some sort. This is far better than what I initially imagined: lashing out at an unpleasable fanbase.

Does this give our girl and her little jellyfish friends an ability to come out at the same level as Mario/Zelda?
"Yeah, right, trying to trick me again. Well, Harley Quinn is nobody's fool, anymore." I really love Wikia, FOX and Nintendo. Really... -_-

Not gonna make a difference either way, unless he inexplicably decides to make a Metroid game with his newfound free time.

Not unless his "students" are in Nintendo EAD.
