The only difference between it and an older Wii is that it doesn't support GameCube software and hardware. It's obviously NOT the Wii U. So there you have it.

Well I wouldn't buy that Wii then, because I like the support of GC. I think it should stay in the Wii U, TBH.

Nobody will be throwing out their old Wii, especially if you bought a lot of Virtual Console games. There will be no way to transfer them from Wii 1 to Wii 2.

Nintendo made a fatal error assigning our VC purchases to the machine and not a user account. If they were on a user account you could assign your account on the next wii console and download your VC games to that.

Im sure when PS4 comes out, putting all my game downloads from my ps3 to my ps4 will be no problem. :adam:

Another reason why, despite its best efforts, Nintendo just did not GET online gaming last generation. I kind of doubt it will improve in that sense, and I know there will be no retroactive effort to make accounts to make those VC games transferable. Nintendo would much rather have you buy them all again on a new machine!

Considering you were able to transfer DSiWare from a DSi to a 3DS, and that you can transfer pretty much anything from one 3DS to another, I think it's pretty likely they'll find a way to transfer your current VC titles to Wii U, somehow.

And, again, considering the online features of the 3DS, I think Wii U will definitely improve a lot over Wii in that aspect.

I still have a hint of hope Nintendo will crawl out from under the rock and learn how to make a proper system.

Yeah totally, I think that due to the god awful online stuff some devs were put off from making some types of games on the Wii, would have loved something like Quake3 or so but without a proper online system online MP was never going to fully take off.

Judging by how good the 3DS's online capabilities are, and how "amazing" non-japanese 3rd party games are on it, I'd say they were either too lazy (like almost anyone owned by Actvision, EA, or Ubisoft), or REALLY didn't want to dumb down there games (like Valve and Bethesda).

Also, again judging by how good the 3DS's online system is now, plus the confirmation that there won't be any friend codes, PLUS those rumors about Valve trying to have Nintendo use Steam like the PS3 did, I am pretty sure the Wii U's online will be at least good.

Friends codes were a big enough reason to not bother, nowt to do with laziness in my opinion, I've not played single game online with the Wii either, friend codes are just lame end off. The wii could have had some cracking FPS games but with no real online solution that devs could use no one was going to bother much.

Well, if Wii U ends up supporting various online platforms, it'll all depend on the developers.

And friend codes on 3DS aren't an issue anymore. Yeah, one for each game was annoying, but one for each system is more than bearable. And I've been hearing some really good things about Mario Kart 7's online functionalities.

Oh no, he's saying something bad about Nintendo, lets comment on his grammar instead of the points raised...

A cross platform Nintendo account would be more ideal I think, especially if the 3DS and WiiU are going to have some connectivity as some suggest, although this is a bit late now seeing as the 3DS is already out.

Nintendo really need to get it right with the WiiU, from what I've heard they are working closely with developers on a number of things to make sure they get the third party support that has been really lacking for their two past home consoles now. I'm hopeful that they know what needs to be done.

It's nothing a firmware upgrade can't fix.

The GameCube wasn't lacking in third-party support. Wii sure was, but GCN did have a lot of major third-party games released on it. And it definitely had the best first-party support of its generation.

I wasn't attacking on the grammar. I LITERALLY didn't understand a damn word you said. How do you expect me to comment on your points if I can't understand what the hell you were saying to begin with?
