I'm pretty sure we reported on the first episode. The show has quite a few factual errors in it...

It makes it sound as though we won't have another Metroid game for quite a while. At least we have AM2R to look forward to while we wait. Can't help but be eager to see what the next chapter in Metroid's history will be.

Yeah, I've been dying to know myself. Every morning I wake up and check here to see if a new game has been announced. I am so impatient. lol

I suspect there will be a 3DS or WiiU Metroid announced next year with a release the following year.

Slightly off topic but with Zelda and Mario having major releases this year and Metroid having one last year it does beg the question what they are going to use for the launch of the WiiU?

I'd hate it to be a rushed Metroid game.

And with Kirby getting multiple releases this year alone, and DK getting a major return last year; that only leaves us with Star Fox, F-Zero, and... crap, I'm drawing a blank on Nintendo franchises... Maybe a Yoshi or Pokemon game? With the recent release of Star Fox 64 3D, I'd wistfully bank on a surprise Star Fox WiiU title. Maybe they'll pop the box with a completely new franchise... You never know.

The last F-Zero game I remeber was for GC, and it was F-Zero GX. I reeeeeeeally was the custom car thing to stay, if it goes to WiiU as a new game. Say, F-Zero GXU? :P

Oh sure......no games have been hinted as of yet.......especially games that were meant to be released on the Wii for a long time but shifted platforms as the developer himself said (*cough*Pikmin3*cough*)

Back on topic...........

I think outside the big 3 franchises the only one that could push sales is Pokemon.

Star Fox could be a possibility though seeing as the current one is a remake most likely done by a 3rd party? (I've not followed it or want to buy it).

Heh, the narration is pretty dry, but I really like this part about Metroid:
So the gameplay was awesome, innovative, and, edgier than anything else on the market; the twist was mind-blowing, and progressive all at once; and it changed gaming forever. Therefore, it didn’t sell. ...Wait, what‽
It almost sounds as if he really did a double take at the script, instead of reading the question like everything else.( He sounds significantly less surprised announcing the same fate for Super Metroid, etc. later.)

Examples? I was unsure of a few things, but nothing struck me as glaring... then again, I’m rusty at this.

Um. Pokémon is a big 3 franchise. Metroid, sadly, is down to 4th( or maybe even 5th behind Kirby), at least in terms of popularity, even if it remains 1st or 2nd in terms of game & story quality.

Not sure that will be ready for launch, but of course you’re right. Easy to forget that Mario 2D, 3D, & handheld are practically franchises on their own. I could also see them potentially having a surprise Mario Kart ready( or maybe, say, Pokémon Kart or Nintendo Kart), possibly with MK7 integration.( ...Super Kart Bros.? Nah, just dayreaming.) Since it was in the concept vid & mentioned in interviews, I would say definitely expect a new Wii Fit( you know what’d be amazeballs for the next Wii Fit? Personal Trainer: Walking integration. Maybe w.a feature to use Pokéwalkers as well as PT:W pedometers.)

The videos are great, and they make me feel very upset for the series. The game play was revolutionary, but they all seemed to release at the wrong time. I wish people would just try out the Metroid series and see what they think, so that more people could witness how awesome the franchise is.

This series is awful. It's completely full of falsifications, speculations, rumors, and flat-out biased opinions.
Example 1: "[After Super Metroid's supposed poor sales] Nintendo considered the series a bust and didn't make any Metroids for the Nintendo64" this is complete, 100% speculation, leaning towards flat out falsification. Nintendo didn't make Metroid for the N64 because Sakamoto didn't think the N64 was capable of what he wanted to do. They even looked into getting a 3rd party to make Metroid at that time (very likely it was Rare) but nothing ever came to fruition.
Example 2: "[Metroid Other M's] script and voice acting were terrible." And he really emphasizes the word terrible. This nothing more than a biased opinion based on the popular vote, and most likely said just to please the crowds.

For something that touts itself as a "HISTORY" show, it's mishandled quite poorly. Even worse is that all those thousands of kids that watch this show will believe it like it's 100% fact.

I like what the show tries to do, but the writing for it is just seems like it's not done lovingly or in a positive manner. There is also something in the narrator's voice that just sounds like he either doesn't like the series or just doesn't care. He probably never played a Metroid game in his life.

Hey, maybe the MDb should make a show like this....but actually good and accurate? >_>
