A dream I had recently was of another Metroid V idea. I saw it in the form of a trailer followed by myself playing the demo.
I can't explain the trailer other than a montage of footage from the game, and I was wanting more. I was able to tell that it was post-Fusion (I saw SA-X, Omega Metroid and the destruction of BSL in it), and the Federation wanted Samus hunted down for her deeds. There was supposed to be a shipwreck of some sort (saw one in the trailer, couldn't tell if it was BSL crashing) and a virulent "Dread" of some sort.
The demo played rather well, seamlessly mixing first-person and Other M style play in a way Other M didn't. I was able to manage my weapons with several taps on the Wii U screen on the fly, and call up the map on that screen to help out with navigation. The game took place in a base and surrounding wilderness, wrapping across an entire continent and seamlessly blending various locales across a vast, freely explorable landscape. I found after awhile that that mountain I could see from the watchtower across the lake was a place I could actually visit if I ran over there! There were mutant humans, Space Pirates, and other enemies amok throughout this place, hidden in caves and ruins. There were also outposts scattered about with surviving Federation personnel popluating them, providing intelligence and the occasional squad battle.
Along the way, there were many Ridley clones flying about, and I would have to fight them at random intervals. Each of them provided a necessary "jolt" to my Suit (but my Suit couldn't use them with its upgrades). To utilize these "Ridley Souls" (as I called them), I had to find various new pieces of equipment. I also had to "Repair" my old stuff (it had been damaged) by picking up "Repair Energy" from fallen enemies. (If anyone remembers my last posts in here, it's like that Repair mechanic.)
Then, in my dream, the game came out. I was thankful for all the developers at the four dev teams for making that awesome game. In-game, it turns out that a Space Pirate bioweapon had overrun a planet, and the Federation was taking samples of it in order to come up with a way to defeat it and terraform that planet. (This took place while Samus was cleaning up ship aboard BSL.) This bioweapon, codename "Dread", broke containment and overran the ship, causing it to crash-land at the research station it was headed to. From there, a leak spread, threatening to overrun THAT planet as well.
Immediately after BSL, the Federation wants Samus imprisoned for "wanton destruction of Federation property", and enacts "Plan Omega", a string of code embedded in her Fusion Suit that short-circuits everything, causing major hardware damage. Adam manages to restore basic functionality, and it turns out Samus' Chozo suit is trying to repair itself using energy from its environment. (It hadn't in Fusion because the Fusion Suit was simply a hardware replacement.)
Samus and Adam receive the distress call from the ship, and, baffled by it, decide to drop in and investigate. Interference forces communications between Samus and Adam to be intermittent, but there is still the occasional map update, Log analysis, and computer slicing. She quickly restores goodwill among the surviving Federation personnel on the planet, however she must do so incrementally (Federation in her grace can't exactly hit up the remaining Federations, interference, remembuh?)
This "Dread" is really a gene-splicing nanite designed to take genetic coding from various life forms and engineer them into feral superbeings. They do this with an Aurora Unit, becoming a hive mind of these creations, and do the same to make many Ridley replicants. Samus must destroy them all, and she does so, but with quite a few losses of her own. Anthony Higgs makes an appearance, and Adam makes his departure from the series (getting his Hero's End in the process).
And did I say there was a great multiplayer in this game, too? I didn't dabble too much into it.
I ended up updating my concept Dread design for this. viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5100&start=7

@Zynux I'd imagine the game as being more adventure than horror, and I'd describe the moments when you'd find enemies as being more intense than terrifying. Also I wasn't thinking the player would be in the Zero-suit for long... not in it's natural state at least... The powersuit, in my mind, wouldn't appear until about 1/4 to 1/2 of the way through the game, but Samus would upgrade her Zero-suit with life support systems and other various defensive upgrades, making her end up looking a little bit more like thisAnd the overall goal of the idea would be to give the player more freedom to choose their own path with the upgrade system, kind of like a cross between Skyrim's taking and reforging weapons from fallen enemies crossed with Deus-Ex's upgrading weapons slightly by finding small enhancements around the map crossed with Zelda's dungeon crawling and, finally and most prominently, based off of the metroid-patented exploring the planet and defeating bosses to uncover secret upgrades and expansions

@Thunderchin So basically, you take the Metroid franchise and hand it to Bethesda?

I think you might have been playing Skyrim before you went to sleep, thunderchin. Ridley souls? Other than the lack of corridors and overall room structure of Metroid this wasn't as bad as it could've been, we've had worse ideas, as I'm sure you remember.

I seriously hope that the Wii U will be affordable enough for me to buy it, so that if any of our ideas come to fruition I can play said Metroid game on my meager salary. Which reminds me, one of our own forum members was chosen by IGN ( i know, IGN kinda sucks. i still visit the site) for some kind of insight on the Wii U price. http://wii.ign.com/articles/122/1221128p1.htmlHooray for the MDb! Back on topic. One of the main things for me that defines Metroid is the large hallways and underground spaces. Metroid is a rare kind of game where it's like you're always in one of Zelda or Skyrim's dungeons. It gives it a slightly darker tone, but you can still occasionally see spaces where it's open on one side, like the outdoor areas of Sanctuary or the downed GF ship on Bryyo. So, Thunderchin, I think you should apply this idea of yours to something wholly unique and new. You have a lot of creativity, and you should try and find a place to vent this creativity that isn't the internet. Don't worry, my music has no place other than the internet, I need to work on that.

Actually that's exactly what I meant. And good, I look forward to seeing it.

This thread has been dormant for a few months now. I've decided to update on the city i started building, if you remember it. I haven't made much progress lately, what with finals and all that. Now that summer's here, I might be able to get some quality time with it.

If Metroid 5 were announced right now, I would take off all the money I have on Halo 4 so I can save up for it. It's been too long.

It probably still wouldnt be out for at least a year, so why not save for both?

Because Metroid 5 would probably be for 3DS and I don't own one. I'd need the extra money for the console.
~Kraid is best character and Other M is a great game.

Ah. That's fair. You know, some places (like Toys R Us) will let you put systems on layaway so you can pay it off over 3 months. It's a good way to make sure you're saving up.

Or I could just wait till Chrismas. I was planning on getting the Other M figma but I think a 3DS would last longer.
