Crocomire inspiration?

Postby Daya » 05.12.12 6:55am

Yesterday, I re-watched some good old Terminator 2, and I noticed something:

There's this scene where Sarah Connor tries to "push" the T-1000 into the lava in the steel mill, and she does this by shooting at it with a shotgun.

Now, in Super Metroid with Crocomire, you have to push him down into the acid bash by shooting in his open mouth, just like with the T-1000, and they both cannot be killed normally.

Also, the movie came in 1991, while Super Metroid hit the sales in 1994.
So, is it possible that Sakamoto/his team got inspired by this scene?

Sure, why not? We already know that half the Metroid development team are fans of James Cameron's works.

Is it true that they had to keep redesigning Crocomire because the testers felt bad for killing him?

Yes

Osawa: He wanted to them to look like Fujiko Fujio's work! Then Yamane came into the picture.
Mashita: When that happened, the characters became harsher so that the player could defeat them.

 did you seriously quote Wikitroid and not us? Where do you think that quote came from? Surely not this translation of the Super Metroid developer interview. -_-; and of course I'm sure Wikitroid didn't credit us either.

Sorry, it was the first place that came to memory -_-; Source amnesia and all that...
