Samus endsWhen Miyamoto or someone else ends the Metroid series,do you think they should kill off Samus or have her retire from her bounty hunting?
Phazon, you can run from it,but you can't hide from it.

Re: Samus endsThat is, if they decide for "one final release". If they don't plan ahead, the series would end abruptly.
The most story we've seen in any Metroid game would be Other M of course and as far as stories go as far as complexity and structure, it's far from stellar. I'm not even going on about "good or bad", it's more about what are all the things that happened as well as considering how everything impacted each other (before and after said things got destroyed) and how the timeline was affected. So yeah, I'm sure we can continue to expect future Metroid games with relatively simple stories so don't expect anything too dramatic like that. In times of crisis, weakness cannot survive. But be very careful how you define strength.

Re: Samus ends
I know they will probably make more Metroid games but my question is when they end Metroid eventually should they kill off Samus or have her retire from bounty hunting. Phazon, you can run from it,but you can't hide from it.

Re: Samus ends
Heh, that depends on what they want to do to the audience. Retiring would appeal to people who like happy endings. Well, light-hearted things like that aren't uncommon with Nintendo. Or they could solidify her place in players' memories and have her die a heroic death befitting the greatest warriors. Lived a warrior, died a hero. The impact of her sacrifice being something that could well ripple the very fabric of time and space itself. Take that however you will. In times of crisis, weakness cannot survive. But be very careful how you define strength.

Re: Samus endsLook at Irem with the R-Type series.
It had three "this is the last game" games. And each time it was "Man we destroyed the Bydo for good!" I'd imagine it'd be similar for Metroid. Some type of feel-good final conflict that would be conveniently ignored for the next installment. Hey, just like Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion!

Re: Samus endsMaybe they do something to her like happened to Goku in the end of dragonball series
Or maybe it will never end with the conflict of Samus x Ridley, I cannot see a end for metroid series, and i think is better in this way. If i was in Metroid universe, i would marry Samus, and if i could choose an ability,Speed Booster would be mine. Finally i got all ending pictures,Metroid Fusion JP Version Completed

Re: Samus endsThe way they did the Dragonball ending in GT was just anticlimactic and sad. I don't want to see this in Metroid. As for how Metroid would end, I'm just not sure.

Re: Samus ends
Everything has to end. My problem is,you guys aren't really answering my question. Phazon, you can run from it,but you can't hide from it.

Re: Samus ends
"Ending" and having a "conclusion" are two different things. Even if they stop making Metroid games, that doesn't mean there will be a conclusion to the entire franchise. Last edited by Zynux on 04.30.12 9:56pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Samus endsI'm going to copypasta my idea I posted in a different metroid forum:
So, basically, I'd imagine that Samus would die eventually since she doesn't have a somewhat convoluted plot device keeping her alive like Link does, but go down in legends and history, inspiring future generations of hunters "Writing is easy. Re: Samus endsHey they turned Adam into an immortal AI, and that guy wasn't even good at anything.
Why couldn't they do that to Samus? Imagine all the cool shit she could do if she didn't have to worry about the suit turning her body into mush. |

Re: Samus endsIf Samus will die,it will be really sad for me.But i think it is the only way to stop her fighting against the pirates and problems of universe.I really hope that the story will never get a conclusion
The answer is:Of course it will ends if she dies only If i was in Metroid universe, i would marry Samus, and if i could choose an ability,Speed Booster would be mine. Finally i got all ending pictures,Metroid Fusion JP Version Completed

Re: Samus endsI have a sad feeling that the series will never proceed to Metroid 5. Look at how many interquels there's been since Fusion came out! With that in mind, sometimes I wonder if Metroid Fusion should have ended with some kind of 'ultimate sacrifice' to tie all the loose ends. As it is, we may never know what happens next...

Re: Samus endsYeah, it was a really bad idea to get rid of Metroids and Space Pirates without creating some new enemies first. I wonder if the biggest reason that there's no Metroid V is because nobody can think of a way to turn the Federation into interesting bad guys.
Samus fighting human enemies just seems really wrong. Would you really want to play a Metroid game where primary enemies are generic guys with assault rifles? |
|
Re: Samus ends
Yes. Who you callin' generic? One artist drew a sketch of Samus in an updated Omega Suit hiding behind a rock while a squad of Federation marines and a Nightmare filed past. Now THAT would be interesting. It doesn't even have to be the Federation in the way we'd expect. Think about it. In Metroid: Other M, we were actually fighting Federation troops. Well, a failed experiment to create them, at least. |
