Metroid: Encounter at Ceres Colony (Live-Action Fan Film)

Postby cjohnsonscience » 05.26.12 4:22pm

Hey guys, I'm new the forums but have always been an avid Metroid fan. I am in the middle of doing a fan film with gaming prop maker Platiumfungi and I thought I'd share with other Metroid fans some of pictures of our props. Feel free to comment and discuss as I'm striving to become a better film maker. Just know that although I'd love to make everything as accurate as possible but our budget is very small. I'm having a great time doing it though and can't wait to hear your thoughts.

The props look great. Especially the helmet. WOW.

I enjoyed watching your video and learning about how you made Samus' helmet. Brilliant job.

cjohnsonscience, I'm dying to know what you did you get your Metroid prop appear like it's floating in it's tank.
It looks like your metroid-body is made out of glass. Did you use some sort of clear fishing-wire?
I can't tell what you did--It's driving me nuts! :geemer:

The only bit of advice I have: For the metroid-tank, do you have plans to make it light-up from the inside?
The only reason I ask is from the Super Metroid title-screen it looks like it's glowing on the top and bottom parts of the tank.
Don't stress about it, it's best you don't waste your budget if you don't have to.

Anyway, your finished product(s) look amazing. I hope you can showcase more of your work in the future for us.
Please let us know of the film's release date.

Metroid: Encounter at Ceres Colony (Live-Action Fan Film)

Postby cjohnsonscience » 07.09.12 10:36am

So I've always been a huge Metroid fan and realized there really weren't any fan films out there for it. So I decided to make one. Hundreds of hours and time was spent on this and I really hope you guys enjoy and please share. Let me know what you think. If I get a positive response from this I'll probably do another one.

I didn't know that the Ceres scientists studied at Glendale Community College! XD

But seriously, great work! It made me smile :)
