Ok i think SM has the best music set of the series
1-Lower Norfair(SM) 2-Green Brinstar/Upper Brinstar(SM) 3-Ridley theme(MOM) 4-Norfair(ZM) 5-Ending theme(SM)
Oh, i would have chosen a music from Fusion, but i think fusion hasn't a especific music for each area(sector),i am almost ending all fusion endings in jp version and i remember 3 songs only, anyone realised that?or i am going crazy?
If i was in Metroid universe, i would marry Samus, and if i could choose an ability,Speed Booster would be mine. Finally i got all ending pictures,Metroid Fusion JP Version Completed

Also, what do you all think of the sound that plays when you select "Other M" in the Wii menu? I love that!!! I have it set as my "receive text" tone.
Another thing: is it just me or does the theme for Ridley's Lair (NES version) sound a lot like the Fortress theme in the original Super Mario Bros?

EEERRRHHHGGG... That's a pretty hard question. But I gotta say my favorite is... Well, it's just too hard to decide between the SM "green" Brinstar or "red" Brinstar. I really can't decide which. I just can't.

Bumping this to post this: Dubstep remix of Super Metroid's Lower Norfair. I think it's pretty sick.

Dubstep is a disgrace to the music world. 'Nuff said. I am that sad person whose MP3 player (the device, not the game, sillies ) is 20% normal music and 80% Metroid-related pieces. I couldn't name a favorite if I wanted to. However, I will say this: Harmony Of A Hunter's "Earthroot" and "Omega Cannon", both by Viking Guitar, caused me to term this new phrase: MUSICGASM. Allow me to define this new term. Musicgasm: Noun. A highly pleasurable sensation caused by listening to certain musical pieces. Of course, different people have different musicgasm triggers. I made a CD for myself with all of mine. My inspiration, strangely enough, was spontaneous. My Metroid playlist was on shuffle. It played, in this order, Staff Credits (MP Hunters), Omega Cannon (HOAH), Earthroot (HOAH), Bioluminescence (HOAH), Just A Little More (Shariq Ansari AKA Darkesword), and Underwater Depths (Fusion). The results were startling. I'm not sure the Staff Credits at the beginning did much, but I thought it was cool that Omega Cannon came next. After Omega Cannon and Earthroot, Bioluminescence made me want to lay down and relax, as did Just A Little More and Underwater Depths. This is classified as a "-gasm", as in "nerdgasm", "foodgasm", "nomgasm", etc. because of the intense high followed by the desire and willingness to relax. Yes, I'm a nerd, how did you guess? But here's the complete order as far as I can remember (my CD broke, but I still have the tracks on my flash drive from where I had to take them to my papaw's computer to burn the CD because my laptop won't read blanks): Staff Credits (MPH), Omega Cannon (HOAH), Earthroot (HOAH), Bioluminescence (HOAH), Just A Little More (Darkesword), and Underwater Depths (Fusion, also "Sector 4 Depths"). Part Two includes, in this order: Brinstar Metal (Stemage, from Super Metroid), The Crimson Depths (HOAH), Frozen Utopia (HOAH), Solitude (HOAH), Torvus Clockwork (Darkesword), Sunken Frigate (MP), Symbol Of The Ancients (HOAH), and Torvus Bog Subterranean (MP2).

My MP3 player on my phone is also mostly Metroid music! I haven't heard any of the Metroid Metal or HOAH yet. When you say "Torvus Bog Subterranean" are you referring to the Red Brinstar remix that plays in the Hydrodynamo Station? Cause I love that one.
I feel you on the nerd thing. So am I. I think I'd die alone if my husband wasn't such a nerd too!

THANK YOU! Freakin' Nicki Minaj and Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga with their shoddy-ass lyrics and Rebecca Black with her awful singing made worse by autotune... Yes, the music that plays in the subterranean level of Torvus; this includes the Hydrodynamo Station. Probably one of the best orchestrated renditions on Red Brinstar & Kraids theme ever.
EDIT: Now that I think about it, this was probably in "Harmony of the Hunter", but its still awesome anyway.

I'd say my favorite Metroid battle theme of all time is the Hive Totem/Incinerator Drone theme from Metroid Prime. It's haunting, unique, and extremely well-paced. Plus, the beginning part gets you really pumped.
Suckers.

All of the Metroid games have such wonderful music, and I'd be hard pressed to choose just one favourite out of all of them. That said, recently I've been enjoying listening to the Underwater Depths track from Fusion on repeat, due to its simple, quiet elegance, and both the Tallon Overworld tracks, because the first one remind me of the feeling you get when you discover something new and exciting and the second one is just all kinds of beautiful awesome.
(I hope I'm doing the right thing just posting, I couldn't find a welcome thread or anything. I'm far too used to those, it would seem.)

I know this thread is for discussion of awesome Metroid music, but I just wanted to bring up what is, without a doubt, the worst Metroid music ever: Other M's Space Pirate theme.
That constant and obnoxious beat? That's the sound of your brain slowly melting into a grey puddle. I can only think of a few pieces that come close, like Flaahgra's broken theme in the North American version of Prime (I hope you like the first 36 seconds!) or Mogenar's theme from Prime 3. I'd also single out Metroid II and Other M's "ambiance" pieces, but those at least aren't actively annoying.
Suckers.

Has that been sped up? It doesn't sound right.

As bad as Other M's soundtrack was, I think it did the greatest job of all the Metroids thus far in its rendition of Ridley's theme. The orchestra just takes a familiar theme and runs with it. They should have done this to the rest of the Metroid set-list, instead of making these new, shitty-ass ones. (Though its final boss theme kicks major fuqin' ass.)
If you take all of the songs from all of the games, however, my favorite of them all is still The Wrecked Ship Orpheon from Metroid Prime. It was a refreshing change of pace to something peaceful and calm, almost mournful.

Here's my top 10, in no particular order. 1. Phendrana Drifts 2. Ridley's Theme (I prefer the OM version, but the one remixed for SSBB is sweet too) 3. Multiplayer Theme of Metroid Prime 2 4. Final Mission Resolve 5. Main Theme of Metroid Prime 6. Brinstar (Specifically, the rockin' remix it got for SSBM) 7. Approaching Sector Zero 8. Tallon Overworld (The one that plays for the second half of the game) 9. Space Pirate Theme of Metroid Prime 10. Biosphere - Kihunter Hive (Pretty underrated one. It sends chills up my spine every single time I hear it!) Also, even though it's not from an actual game, I just have to bring up "Into the Green World" from the Harmony of a Hunter album. When you hear it, you'll know why. And a bit off-topic, but... DarkPhazonElite wrote:Sometimes I think modern pop music is an even bigger disgrace.

This is my absolute favorite track of the Metroid series. It's so eerily beautiful.
