Graphics gone downhill after Super?Maybe it's just me but I've played all the games so far but it seems that as far as graphics go Super had the best for a 2D title, Zero mission and Fusion were great games but everything seemed too bright and colorful kind of like a comic book. To me Super got it exactly right it looked perfect, with the new updated technology you think they'd be able to pull off creating another masterpiece. Don't get me wrong they were bright and pretty, but I don't know if they were intentionally doing it to try to introduce new people to the series and thought that was the way to do it, or they were running out of time and just rushed the graphics, or if money was an issue, or if it was any 2 or all 3. I'm willing to say if Zero mission and Fusion had everything the same but the only thing different was that they had Super's graphics they would've sold a lot better. I know people value a great story but graphics should also matter and can sometimes make a huge difference. Sorry if I sound a little ranty.

Re: Graphics gone downhill after Super?I think you're confusing art style with graphics. And while Super look great, and Fusion not so much, I feel that Zero looked a lot better. Especially since Samus's sprite work looks very off, and how crude the more larger sprites work.

Re: Graphics gone downhill after Super? You also have to consider the GBA's lightning, which is low. It was needed to be that bright.
That was a problem for Castlevania: Circle of the Moon when it first came out, because you couldn't see clearly. This problem is fixed when you have a GBA SP, a DS or an emulator/Game Boy Player on the GameCube. |

Re: Graphics gone downhill after Super?Sorry, I was confusing graphics and art style. I meant art style, I liked the way that Super looked sharp and cool yet kinda creepy. To me Zero mission and Fusion still look like comic books.

Re: Graphics gone downhill after Super?Super metroid has more details of shading than the fusion and zm,but ending scenes looked a lot better in the gba games(the Samus graphics and details i mean),but all 3 games have a good graphic
If i was in Metroid universe, i would marry Samus, and if i could choose an ability,Speed Booster would be mine. Finally i got all ending pictures,Metroid Fusion JP Version Completed

Re: Graphics gone downhill after Super?
Wouldn't a 3DS Metroid need to be really bright too? It seems that dark areas don't play well with the 3d effect. Look at how the 3DS Luigi's Mansion is way brighter than the gamecube one. |
