Someone else's art (Post found fanart here)

This isn't someone else's, but I can't find a thread for our own art. Maybe I missed it.

Anyways I was thinking about the different 'weights' of Samus' suit. As in, how heavy her armor is. I decided to try and hypothesize on a heavier suit (berzerker-style fighting) and a lighter suit (stealth, dodging). It's on my DA account here--

It's not the best art, but I'm satisfied with my design. Sure, the lighter suit doesn't have the flair, but it's functional and looks pretty quick.

Hm, every once in a while I search DeviantArt for recent Samus pics. Of course I have safe filter on to avoid all the annoying pervs. But this one is super cool:

genocidalpenguin's Neo Samus is a pretty creative reimagining of Samus' suit.

green-mamba's Space Pirate (Sketch, Colored) is an excellent reconciliation of the 2D Space Pirate designs with the Prime series designs.

And, last but DEFINITELY not least, Niklas Jansen's Metroid: GF-POLICE page, which is his concept for a prequel and/or replacement for the original Metroid. His art's excellent (the Metroid in my avatar is from one of his pieces of concept art), but he has a phobia of sequels; the only Metroid, Zelda, and MegaMan games he likes AT ALL are the first in the series. Since there are no Space Pirates in the original Metroid, he designed them himself, with a face that looks an awful lot like that of MotherBrain's M1 sprite.

Anyway, that's all I got for now...

Definitely more detailed than I've seen these characters in the games. I especially like his unique take on Gandrayda and Dark Samus. Non-canon, I know, but still neat.

Well didn't know exactly where to post this and I didn't want to create a new topic so I was looking through some of my old picture files on photobucket and had to share, cuz the last time I did it was back on the old board.

Please note: the only thing I did with this pictures is colored them in adobe. I did NOT draw them. These are all actually Gonmon's pictures, I love that guys art so much that I just can't help but color them

Anyway these can all be found on the mdb (minus the colored ones, i'm still trying to get with gonmon to see if he'll let me submit in the colored versions ^_^ but I wanted to share)

I enjoyed doing this one, this was my second Gonmon pic I had done and my second experiment using Adobe Photoshop (7.0 at the time). Look's a little ragged but I enjoyed it over all. Not fond of the back ground (past the cliff) in the pic, but I don't have the *.psd files to play with it anymore, much less the time. This was done like....3 years ago.

Then there is this one. I loved this one and after the original sketch was done, I.E. collaborated with gonmon on having it colored, and at the same time I was coloring my own variation of it. I didn't submit this one because people liked IE's color better. Mine was too dull, but I thought it brought out some nice detail. This has so far been the pride of my coloring projects.

I've done various other non-metroid sketches as well, both for my own challenge and requests ^_^, it's a fun little thing to help pass the time when there is nothing to do. I'm planning on trying this one next, again a gonmon creation (he just makes such damn good art that is easy to color ^_^)
