Yes, and one of my favorite games to replay.

Really, my favorite Metroids to replay are Fusion and Zero Mission, mainly because they are so fun and fast-paced.

Yeah, I'm still replaying it. I think I'm on round... 6? 7? Good times.

Yeah. I've beaten those games A LOT more than I have beaten Super Metroid.

I have too, but not by much. Just once for each ending, and once or twice more.

I have to admit MZM and MF are the only ones I reply quite alot. SM is now and again and I play Primes when i'm in the mood for a guareented decent FPS and diffculty to go along with it

Im not saying it isnt good. I would prefer M2. I have replayed SM,M2,MZM more than MF.

Well the word “worst” has strong negative connotations. And I would say the original Metroid is the worst of the 2D games. The concept and design have stood the test of time, the gameplay and programming have not - at least for me. I know a number of hardcore nostalgics feel differently.

Fusion: First 2D metroid i ever played (the first metroid game i ever played was prime 1)
the bit i actully remember most was worrying about what was in the next room so when i entered a new room i always was listening for footsteps incase i ran in to the SA-X
Iceoid's Logbook Entry
Iceoid:
A newly discovered species of metroid
this metroid has developed an immunity
to cold. Ice beam will no longer work.
High-temp beams should be effective.

Hmmm...this is a tough one...

Super Metroid was a lovely piece of game design...(grapple beam + electricity = win)

Fusion was a great piece of sci-fi...

Zero Mission was a great way to clean up the original Metroid (also it wa my first Metroid game ever completed)...

Oh and honorable mentions go to Metroid 2 as well...it used many powerups (space jump, jump ball) and gameplay mechanics (shooting down, crouching) that have made metroid what it is today (great)...

I suppose all in all my favorite would be Super...or Fusion...hmmm...
Woo! Yay! Houplah!

Well I haven't played many (only Metroid and just started Super Metroid). But I'm liking Super Metroid a lot better than the original so far

I went with MZM on the vote but it's a tie between that one and fusion for me.

Fusion. It actually manages to instill a plot and maintain it throughout the game. To me, a good, involving plot is a major factor.
:metroid: = Ultimate Warrior
8) = Ultimate Warrior
Therefore, 8) = :metroid:

Now you know why they call it Metroid.
