I'm sorry, but there's a few points here that are simply poor translation that I can't let sit. Can we please use complete English sentences and better proofreading? I'll let you figure out what these are supposed to mean:

Page 21:
She may yet to be perfect

Page 23:
Do as you like accordingly, your own way

There's other things I'd like to complain about, but these are ridiculous.

Here is a correction that should probably have a footnote for non-biology people as I doubt anyone here has any clue what it is:

Page 8:
That explains the stench of nonadrenalin

For one thing, adrenaline has an 'e'. For another, 'nonadrenaline' isn't a word. The correct word is 'norepinephrine' (noradrenaline is the British Approved Name), but you'll have to read the Wikipedia article to find out what that is:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norepinephrine

I think it's used to suggest that Samus doesn't have any balls to fight back. But even after reading this, I still have no clue what it does except increase heart rate and serve in 'fight or flight'.

The Japanese is 'noruadorenarin'. I've never seen this word before, but by searching the Japanese wikipedia entry for 'adorenarin' I was able to find an entry for it and click the English for the translation (fascinating how Firefox will even find Japanese words). Chances are you won't find it in anything but a really good straight-up Japanese dictionary - and probably one with medical sources at that.

Just goes to show - if you don't know what something is, look it up until you find it!

And...why is Pyonchi now called Pyonzo? That's what the Japanese says, so why is it now inconsistent? Is that some sort of masculine suffix or something?

...eugh..

PTSD Samus... yikes. This chapter stressed me out some, not gonna lie. :S

Perhaps Ridley's mention of the hormone(?) is in reference to the fact that Samus is actually a "human animal," and not some kind of biological creation.

Yup. And next chapter, I believe, is the one that spawned a five-page topic about blood and gore and horrible things that shouldn't belong in human literature, or at least that shouldn't be taken out of context or looked at before you complain :P

(Anyway, if you missed that conversation, you didn't miss much.)

(If you were part of that conversation, you'll get to reformulate your opinion in about a month or two :metroid:)

More lines that are bad...

page 13: Gray Voice says: "I'm recgoznized as among the leaders."

He's recognized as _WHAT_ exactly among the leaders? A leader? Among the leaders? Or maybe he's just recognized?

Page 21: "The Chozo have a working mental guard"

Working...mental...guard... hm. You could have said ANYTHING other than this. How about "active mental block" or even "psychological shield." You could have even gone as far as saying their species made a physiological oath that would not allow them to act in a violent manner ever again.

Seriously... there are many others too, I just wish it was proof read a little more closely. No offense, but a lot of this translation reads like you don't have a firm grasp on not only the Japanese language, but the English one, either.

you know...i hate to sound like an ass but I'm a very busy person taking my personal time to bring this to y'all. I've taken hours out of my life to attempt to please people with said project when I could have been just as happy reading the trans notes while flipping through the japanese on my own, but I knew other people wanted to read it.

From the beginning I said, I know shit about the Japanese language besides what I pick up from anime and manga. I've also mentioned numerous times that I'm no grammar major either. I understand that there are problems with the manga but i must again say that its being done by amatuers, not people who have been doing this for years.

I may not be the one translating it, but the bitching about the translation is very annoying. For as long as this thing has been out, there have been couple of people who may have attempted to translate it, but after searching I have yet to find a complete translation of any type. If one exists, i'd like to see it so I can stop working on this one because I'm honestly tired of hearing all this. I mean seriously if you are finding so many problems with the translation, then why don't YOU translate it? You seem to know enough to be able to pick out everything that's mis-translated and bring it up.

I seriously have never seen people complain so much about a translation and my wife has been doing this since it's conception. For someone who is use to getting the occasional fan ranting about a translation she has never seen people like you who just want to somehow find everything that's wrong with it. Can't you just read what's there and be happy with what you get? As for the grammar, I do the best I can to 'proof' it and though I do recognize some problems, i'm not a grammar whiz but I do the best i can. If that's not enough, then maybe you outta start a scanlation group to complete it.

I started this thing with high hopes, I found it fun and something new to do. Now, it's like my job, slave in front of the pc for a couple of hours, finish it, feel really good about getting it out...and then realize that just like my job, there will always be something wrong with it. I've contemplated just dropping the project becuase it's no fun anymore, but I know there are still a few out there who want to finish it so for them I will continue.

it's just very irritating and you can say i'm being a little baby whining over criticism and crap that should have been right to begin with but I'm just tired of hearing it. from here on, i'll update when they are ready and y'all can discuss it however you want. I'm sure they'll be a nice little discussion after this post and to prevent myself from saying anything stupid or getting into a war, I'm not gonna respond unless it's about the story.

I think that was basically Hiroshi, saying that anything gorey has no artistic value, and insisting that that was a fact rather than just an opinion due to a baseless personal bias. Since Hiroshi is no longer an active presence and probably won’t change a lifetime of illogical artistic prejudice in a month, I don’t see much reformulating ahead. :-p

You’re being kinda nitpicky. Unlike the stuff Cap mentioned, I don’t think those two particulare examples are so bad. I mean you know how I feel about grammar and they hardly bother me at all. They are a little awkward( especially the latter) but they do convey the meaning clearly.( The first one means recognized as being among the leaders... while it would be nice to have “being” in there, it’s not absolutely necessary.) Seriously, they’re doing it for free, and there are paid, licensed manga translations and anime dubs out there which are worse. It disappoints me that it doesn’t live up to the “professional” reputation of the group, but, oh well, that’s their problem. As long as I can understand it and it accurately translates the meaning of the Japanese in most places and I can understand it, using sloppy English which tarnishes their image is THEIR problem. If it really bothers you so much, then when they are all finished you or Cap or I, or all three, even, can go through, proof it, fix it, and release it as translated by Snoopycool and copyedited by [whomever]. I don’t believe there is any legal grounds for them to stop that.

Or, sharonlover, alternately, you could have the script looked over by me before you insert it into the page( or better yet, Cap if he has the time, since he has some understanding of the Japanese which would enhance his ability to improve the English). Then it will be Cap or me that people are attacking, and hopefully the project can be fun for you again. Although I understand that there is a possibilty that could end up being insulting to your wife or Snoopycool and therefore not viable. You said you weren’t going to respond in the thread, but you can PM me if you like.

Wow....

Chapter 8, makes it as good as Ghost in the shell to my eyes.
Especially like Ridley tormenting Samus with him going "oh she could be here or here"

Sharonlover, Nice job! Can't wait for the next one dude :D

I would actually love to see it in game actually. Get to hear Ridley for the first time and as he does hes taunting you. Get ya angry just so you can own his ass :D

No question why she doesn't have a problem killing him time and time again is there?

Anyway, sure, the translation had some issues, some more glaring than others, but I'd rather have that than no translation at all considering my knowledge of Japanese (which amounts to... none).

I didn't like chapter 8 very much. The drawings are somewhat difficult to understand for someone that is not used to read mangas (me), and Ridley just keeps saying "Samus is useless, Samus is useless, gaaah".

And I'm wondering where did Samus put the Power Suit. :?

I dunno either. xD;; In every single game, it just disappears or reappears in a flash of light. Talking about breaking the laws of physics - where the hell does all of that mass and energy go?

well if you follow the manga, it's her will that causes it to appear 'in a flash of light'. There's the chapter where Mauk, Kreatz, and Samus are saving the little girl and the power suit just appears cuz Kreatz says, "what is that suit?" or something like that.

but it's her "will" i think is how they explained it. Don't know where she hides it though :P
