So I've heard...
But still there might be a problem. I think that not all the countries have that fixing support.

Well, depending on where you are it might be harder, shipping farther, etc., but it’s hard to imagine Nintendo selling the Wii in a region and not offering any support there.

That does’t happen every time, not everyone just has it replaced. Besides, if you don’t get it fixed, you can never play Brawl. And as I mentioned earlier, you should really ALWAYS backup your data before sending ANY computer out for repairs.

The problem is that (besides that the didn't warn me) they told me to send it in for "repairs" which is not at all like "we'll trash it and send you a new one". I doubt I'm the only guy this happened to, considering that it just wouldn't make any sense for me specifically to be the only guy nintendo couldn't bother cleaning a wii lens for.

True, I doubt you’re the only one, but I doubt it happened to everyone either.

I really, REALLY hope that dirty lenses isn't the actual problem, or we'll have to send in our Wiis every 2 or so years.

Nah, I’m sure during repairs they take precautions to prevent it from recurring.

Does anyone here know around of what age of Wiis don't work with Brawl? I got mine in March, never had a problem. I think that post-mid-2006 worked OK. But I think it wasn't dirty lenses. Just inability to play dual-layered.

It has nothing to do with age. I got mine on launch day and it plays Brawl just fine. of course, I keep it out in the open with plenty of ventilation, there has been some speculation that environment caused the problem.
