Yeah, games make me cry sometimes. Wannafightaboutit? While watching AMV's of MGS3 set to the game's credits theme, I wondered what series makes me cry the most. Well, Metal Gear of course. Often, it's during the credits (and the "ending" to MGS4) but mostly due to the songs that are played. I mean, damn, those songs are tear-jerkers. It's not so much that they're sad, it's just they're full of emotion.
The Final Fantasies have made me cry before but how often, I can't say. I had Aeris's (I know it's Aerith) death spoiled for me but Cait Sith's death made me cry. I didn't understand at the time that Caith Sith was actually just Reeve. Other than that, while I'm sure it's happened, I can't remember anything else.

Nope, never cried from a video game. Some movies and TV series sure, even some songs are enough to shed a few tears, but never a video game.

Now that you mention it, Shadow of the Colossus did make me cry at the end.

I think there were a few which made me very well... thoughtful about them. But I don't remember crying for them.

Final Fantasy VI got to me a little when
Celes took that jump, shortly after the World ruined.
I haven't ever gotten too emotionally attached to a game to do this. Some of the game ideas that I've written, though, have nearly moved me to, despite being the one who created them. I dunno, a game idea coming into my head is not so different from viewing someone else's work; usually my subconscious is pulling stuff up and throwing it at me while my conscious is judging it. So my own ideas have moved me emotionally. Hopefully I can get them all written down and created, because I think games that really draw the player in like a good movie or book are valuable things.

Video games don't make me cry, but lots of Zelda games come pretty close:
The disappearance of Koholint Island, Navi leaving (sure she's annoying, but it was still touching), and the ending of The Wind Waker... oh wait, that one was just badass.
can we try to mark our spoilers please? Believe it or not, I've stayed spoiler free of FFVII cuz I planned on playing it. Minus Aeries death which you can't get around, but I didn't know about the other there.

The MGS4 reference I made ambiguous enough. You're right about marking spoilers but FF7 is the last game I expected someone to not have played by now.

what can I say besides, shame on me. There are a ton of games I never got around to for the PS1/2 or gamecube that I would have loved to have played. FFVIII did make me shed tears however. The "Eyes On Me" song is one of my favorite video game songs. When I went to see the "Distant Worlds" Final Fantasy Orchestra thing and they did that song, I couldn't help but tear a little as they rolled the FFVIII footage ^_^; It tends to be the music that gets to me versus an actual scene though.

Never really tears, per se, but the ending of Link's Awakening got me as a little 7-year-old kid.
As well, Contact for the DS had a very sad ending, and a very pitifully sad 'last boss fight'.
Terry, the kid you've been controlling the whole game (you being the 'player' and all), finally calls you out (you, specifically) for being the controlling and selfish 'player' that you are, forcing him to do whatever you ordered him to do in the course of the game. So he finally 'rebels' and tries to fight you by attacking the screen itself. It's not like he has a chance to win, so you tap/kick the shit out of him, and just leave, while he finally removes the bracelet that has been controlling him. He presumably joins up with the CosmoNOTs, the 'bad-guys' of the game. It made me feel like a pretty huge jerk. Oh, and the professor confesses that he used you and Terry just so he could finally escape the game itself, because he was sick of being controlled by the game programmers, script writers, and producers. It's sad, confusing, and certainly thoughtful.
