Help with Space Boots....PLEASE!! Acquired the space boots after the half pipe move, scanned them and went to the gunship to save.
Now I cannot get them to function. (Wii B button)....Am I missing something or is it a software glitch?
Please help a newbie.
thanks.

The space boots normally work by hitting the jump button twice. Once to jump, and second time to activate the space jump (just acts as another normal jump). I haven't heard of any glitches that wouldn't allow you to do that.
Does the space jump appear in your research records? Have you gone back to the room to see if it was still there? I just got my space jump boots a few days ago (in the trilogy version) and had no problems. Never had problems on the original GCN version either.

Thank you MUCH. Yes I did go back to the room, and they do show up in the inventory. I was expecting a Rocket Blast from her boots to propel Samus....almost like a retro rocket.
The second push of the B button is only another "normal jump" seems to be my answer.
Thank you Sharonlover. Big help.

I take it you are more used to the classic Metroid games where the Space Jump can be used an infinite amount of times without touching the ground (if done right)? Or are you new to the series altogether? Welcome to the forums by the way.

They really should have called them the 'high' jump boots instead.

I think it should have been called Double Jump Boots. Neither High nor Space fit with this item.

This is true. High jump boots increase the height of Samus' jumps (and thereby the length of a gap she can cover). Prime's "Space Jump Boots" do that, but only by allowing an additional jump. Space Jump Boots in all the non-Prime games function only when Samus is somersaulting, and if timed correctly can be repeated indefinitely (or until Samus touches the ground). But in Prime, you get only 1 jump, and you're not somersaulting. They should have been called double jump boots, or something similar. But, given the desire to keep the flavor of an upgrade while tweaking it to make sense for a 1st person 3D game, I can see why they did what they did. I mean, it took them till Echoes to figure out how to make a Screw Attack work, and that is highly altered from the non-Prime games as well.

Actually, I believe if you play Metroid Prime 2 multiplayer and look at someone else, you can see that Samus does sometimes paradoxically somersault during space jump. It makes no sense, but it's there (if I remember correctly).

When I first read the topic title, I thought it said "space boobs". I thought "well, this is going to stir up a lot of funny sh*t". But then I reread it.

It is correct. I noticed it while playing with my friends another day. It's very weird to see a shot coming from a spinning Samus.

I agree with this as it's the closest thing they approximate. It also bugged me that the screw attack didn't cut through enemies like butter the way it does in the 2d games.

If they were called High Jump boots, the OP would have the same exact problem. He'd just be asking us why he doesn't appear to be jumping any higher, even though he is pressing the jump button and has the upgrade.
I like Double Jump Boots, but honestly, Space Jump isn't that bad. You just have to shake the context of the other games, and realize that you are making a jump (singular) off of thin air (space).

Double jump boots sounds silly. Space jump boots make sense to me. She's jumping in space (by which I just mean she's in the air and not touching anything else to jump off of.)

I think high jump boots is best. Samus isn't physically jumping twice. She jumps once, and then activates the thrusters to create another boost, in reality you can't physically double jump without touching something physical to provide for more leverage. I would think a quick succession such as a single wall jump would more fit into the double jump category.
I want to say that the 'thrust' sound on the space jump in Prime comes from the ones on her back (though that's just my theory as what else would they be used for?). High jump makes sense, a single jump utilizing thrusters to provide the extra height (and it does allow you to jump higher).
