It may mean they just have no idea, but I thought I might bring it up. And sorry if something like this has already been posted.

Probably doesn't mean anything, but...Like I typed above, this might not mean anything, but I recently went to a Gamestop at my local AAFES. I saw they had a release booklet for games that have not yet been released, I saw Metroid: Other M on 01-01-10

Re: Probably doesn't mean anything, but...Huh, that is interesting. But I have heard that in the trailer it points to something in January 2010.

Re: Probably doesn't mean anything, but...January 2010 seems a bit early for them to be releasing the game. I mean, clearly, they've been working on it for a while, based on the trailer, but they've got a month and a half to go, and the only hype out there is an E3 trailer. There's not even been a preview in any gaming magazines. The game will be out in '10, but I think that we're going to be seeing a bit more time before it's released to build up hype.

Re: Probably doesn't mean anything, but...like your title says: means nothing.
01/01/10 is simply a placeholder that they've put on the game. Also, Nintendo generally releases their major titles on Sundays; 01/01/10 is a Friday. I would expect Other M to be playable at E310 with an early Fall launch. |

Re: Probably doesn't mean anything, but...You guys are probably right. The first day of '10 is way too early. But I guess it may be something to keep in mind.
I never noticed that! Yes, I is a GAMER GIRL! ![]() |

...Unless they're not done with it by then. That would be a pretty good reason. ![]()

Re: Probably doesn't mean anything, but...
I can't see April. I would've expected more than just a 2 minute trailer less than six months before the game was released. A website, at least, would be nice. There's not even an overview on Nintendo's website for the game. I mean, I know Nintendo's pretty bad about giving love to the Metroid series, but even that's a bit weaker than usual. |

Re: Probably doesn't mean anything, but...The only thing that's going to keep this game from launching during the Holiday season is going to be an overcrowded line-up from Nintendo.
I don't think we're going to see any WiiFit or WiiSports, though a successor to the under-performing WiiMusic has been rumored. We know Super Mario Galaxy 2 is on the list and I wouldn't cancel out Zelda Wii from sneaking in before 2011. Then there's the question of what Retro has up its sleeve. Are they making a new Kid Icarus or are they still involved with Zelda as was previously rumored and then substantianted with the announcement that they no longer were working on that game. The only other major game I see coming down the pike (and yes, I know this is the ever-secretive Nintendo we are talking about here) is something to do with the WiiVitality sensor, probably aimed at the blue-ocean group and not so much the core gamers. Of course there are a few other minor games that could make the list, including Pikmin 3, but I can't see them filling up the holiday enough to push Metroid out of the line-up. If Metroid releases in Q1 or Q2 I'd say Nintendo has a few major aces up their sleeves. As it stands, though, I don't see that happening. Metroid Other M releases between Aug 15 and Oct 15; that's my prediction. Last edited by loro on 11.19.09 5:00pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Probably doesn't mean anything, but...
Do you mean "less than an year"? April is 10 months after June on my calendar. I seriously don't have any idea when Other M can be released, but I do remember quite a few Metroid games released in August (like MPT and Corruption), so that could be a possibility. But, alas, I rather just sit down and wait for Nintendo to say something. |

Re: Probably doesn't mean anything, but...
It's not June right now. |

Re: Probably doesn't mean anything, but...
The trailer was released in June. But I guess this was a slight misunderstanding of my part. You meant they would have released something by now, didn't you? |

Re: Probably doesn't mean anything, but...
That is what I meant, yes. |

Re: Probably doesn't mean anything, but...
I have played and beaten both Pikmin 1 and 2 and think they are amazing games. I also think they are heavy fan favorites....but let's face it: they aren't heavy sellers. The first sold well shy of 2 million and the second barely crossed the one million mark. So as far as sales are concerned (and that is what Nintendo would be concerned about), Pikmin 3 isn't going to fill up their holiday season too much. I would put Pikmin 3 on the same level that I put Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. It will sell to the core fans, but it won't sell 6 million units. All I was saying is that Pikmin 3 releasing in Holiday 2010 won't push Metroid: Other M to a Spring 2011 release. |

Re: Probably doesn't mean anything, but...lol....I don't know who I was trying to convince of what. Somewhere I thought I read something about the game not making the holiday...and I guess I figured the only way that would happen would be for a delay.
Sorry for the confusion. |

Re: Probably doesn't mean anything, but...Because as we all know, we can accurately asses the quality of a game and its readiness from a two-minute trailer.
