What about the views?

Postby Yoshi 3000 » 12.11.09 3:56am

I don't know if there's already a thread like this, but if there is, just gimme a link, then lock or remove this. :)

Anyway, I've been thinking a little about the trailer, and it seems like some parts of it shows a first person view, while some shows a third person view. And there was a side-scrolling view as well.

So, do you guys think that these views will be changed at certain points in the game, like you play a part in first person, and then when you get to the next, it changes to third person?
I think that'd make the game even more linear than it already seems to be.

I have an idea though.

Wouldn't it be cool if you could actually change view-points whenever you want? Sort of like the morph ball in the prime-games, I mean. While it could be sort of hard to get used to, and maybe not the best solution, it'd make for some nice possibilities for exploration.
Also, you could have different actions in the different "modes".

For example, in first person mode, you'd have more precise aiming, maybe a visor-system (if they'll have that), like scan visor and such.
And in third person, you'd have stuff like melee-moves like the ones seen in the trailer.

What do you guys think about this?
And if you have any ideas of your own, feel free to bring them up as well. :)

That would be nice if you could change the view points. I have a feeling that they already planned that in M:OM.
But of course it's hard to tell because we only have a small trailer to go by. xD

I noticed two kinds of view points in the trailer. There is the 1st person 'visor mode' (as I like to call it) most of us are familiar with it in the Prime games.
Then there is third person, when were looking at Samus from a distance.

If they do allow us to switch out from 1st person into 3rd person I hope it's done by a button on the Wii-mote.
For example: Pressing '1' makes it 1st person and pressing '2' makes it 3rd person. Something like that would be great.

I think it will be like Ocarina of Time:
3rd Person (or 2.5D, whatever you wanna call it), with being able to switch into 1st Person mode.

I like the idea of using first person for pinpoint accuracy, while you use a lock-on system in the third person mode. Best of both worlds.
