That is correct, it was in magazine form before it made it into the tankouban(sp?) *manga book form*

Ok, so Chapter 2 is now up. You can also now view the original Japanese. So this chapter has some interesting additions. The picture of Ridley looks a lot like this one. I would say the planet he landed on was SR388, but it could have been an original one for purposes of the story. Oh yes, Megaroids are the dumbest design I've ever seen. It also sounds like a medical condition you do NOT want to catch! Is it just me, or does this beginning to feel like recounting a kid's trip through an NES game?

Eh, Samus is consistently awesome, so I don't mind too much. Megaroids are kind of stupid, but you can't compare them to the real deal anyhow. ;P Who wants to bet Joey and the Megaroid become "friends," thereby making him useful?I wanted to punch him in the face soooo bad. But Samus did too, so that makes me feel better.

Does anyone here also think it's kinda ironic how Samus in this manga seems much more developt and interesting(and badass, definately badass) than Samus from the Zero Mission manga, which is suppose made by the time Samus' character got more fleshed out?
Also, Megaroid. lolwut?

Not really. In the Zero Mission manga she was still a tad inexperienced. When you compare that to this (whenever this takes place) she ought to be more badass now.

A lot of this reads like a horrible fanfic(I'm looking at you, Megaroid), but at least it's enjoyable.
Also, the character chemistry between Samus and Joey is starting to look suspiciously like the one between Batman and Robin in that one Frank Miller comic. "'Who are you?' Are you dense? Are you retarded? I'm the goddamn Samus Aran."
Also, did Joey just call Samus a he? I guess Samus's gender isn't common knowledge then.
Also also, why the hell are there Koopa Troopas and Magikoopas in the Space Pirate Army.

Japanese don't have pronouns (I think that's what they are called) that specify gender (I know there are some but not in most cases). In the case of the manga, we aren't sure if Joey knows Samus is a she or a he, so the masculine is being used for the time being. Once I get time to look ahead in the manga, I'll try and see if it's revealed to him or something he knows.

I just read the 2nd volume.
I still like that idea that Joey thinks Samus is a guy, because then we know at least in this manga her true-self isn't relived. Yet* anyway.
There is way too much pokemon this, First Charizard(s) --now a Blastoise! I also wasn't found of that 'Megaroid'. It looked like a virus rather then a Metroid-wanna-be.
If anything, I did like the way Samus acts in this manga. I enjoy her strong character. I think they did a great job for her. I loved the ending beacuse she's using her motherly instincts to help teach Joey, dispiste him being a brat. She knows he has potential to be a great hero someday. He just needs to not be so 'hot headed' and learn from the pro. Way to go Samus--!

The trouble with Joey thinking Samus is a guy is that we won't know if he actually knows she's a woman until she takes off her helmet. So far, that's not happened in the manga. I don't have it (SL does) so I can't flip ahead. If it IS common knowledge, then the old translations will just have to be changed. That simple. Because the series has followed the concept of Samus' hidden identity, I was just going to stick with that (though the Prime series seems to have since decided this is not a secret).

well the first volume has no picture evidence that Samus is actually a girl. Text may reveal something, I wasn't actually reading it. I'll give the other two volumes a look over when I get a chance and see if I can find anything out.

Kay. So I wanted to take a look at this manga again but I hit a slight snag. Namely All the pages dealing with this comic cough up a 404 error. And since it's been a while since anyone has so much as mentioned this I thought I should ask; do we have plans to continue to post the rest of this comic or not?

Ok, the Comics & Manga page has been updated with links that actually work. Incidentally, I just noticed it the other day, but didn't realize it was widespread to the other manga as well. Also - Samus & Joey 3 & 4 have been translated. 3 requires just a handful of fixes, but 4 needs to be typeset and double-checked. So no, translation has not stopped, though it did take a two-month hiatus.
