Re: Whats you favorite metroid enemy?Hypermode just means shoot them more and dodge them more. You don't have to drop a tank.

Re: Whats you favorite metroid enemy? In Hypermode difficulty, it takes ridiculous numbers of shots to kill a hypermode enemy, so hypermode is a necessity. Which is annoying, because I hate it.

Re: Whats you favorite metroid enemy?Even in normal difficulty it takes a ridiculous number of shots. For 90% of the game I felt like I could just sit still and not die. But nothing else would die either.

Re: Whats you favorite metroid enemy?
There is an easy way to beat Yakuza. In the not-spinny stage stay in the right corner, dashing out, shooting, and dodging flames as needed. When Yakuza starts the spinny-stage, run to the left corner and shoot diagnolly up. when Yakuza turns red, return to the right orner and shoot diagnolly up again, but in the other direction. PYRO'S BACK, BABY!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, upon my return, I have a few demands of the administrators. I want my rank changed to Barbie. Actually, that's my only demand. |

Re: Whats you favorite metroid enemy?I meant when the game doesn't force you to use that tactic. On lower difficulties, it's fun to dance around them and slowly destroy them while they hopelessly flail around, or to bowl through a squad with the Screw Attack. Otherwise, forced hypermode ruined the entire game's combat for me. I made it a personal decision to only use it if I had to, which eventually became always on Hypermode difficulty. Definitely the worst aspect of Corruption. Yakuza remains one of the few bosses that have ever killed me in a Metroid game. Now that I've played significantly harder games, however, he's fairly simple. Nightmare can go either way. Sometimes you can lure him higher in the room to get below him or lower to attack his face, and other times he just won't go for it. He can still get me once in a while. The hardest boss in my experience is either him or Super's Ridley. Little to no pattern+small space+lots of health=not good. Then again, I've only fought him two or three times. ![]() End of Line. |

Re: Whats you favorite metroid enemy?I can't remember what they're called, but they're in prime 3, they're those little red things that have 3 stubby legs, and shoot at you, those things are dicks when they enter hypermode.
As for a favorite enemy, those 4 legged robot things in Prime 2 which you face in Sanctuary Fortress, those were neat. |
|
Re: Whats you favorite metroid enemy? Those stubby things can be killed with just one charge beam, so it is fairly easy to get them before they go hyper. But yeah, given how easy they are to kill not-hyper it sucks when they power up.

Re: Whats you favorite metroid enemy? In some areas they go Hyper right as you enter the room, and I don't like wasting health on such insignificant little things like them.

Re: Whats you favorite metroid enemy? They're called...something-tanks. Turret tanks? Steam tanks? Something along those lines. And they're almost always in some area where you can hide behind a wall and strafe back and forth to take them out, while not taking a lick of damage yourself. Hypermode Pirates are a tad smarter, however, so a significant amount of pillar-humping is required to stay safe. Unless they toss a grenade and insta-hyper YOU, then it's time to just blast them to pieces.
The four-legged dudes in Echoes are the Quads and I hate them. Not as much as those damn Missingnos, but still. I had an easier time with big daddy Quadraxis than I did with his mini mes. Maybe I'm just special, but I always seem to have a harder time with smaller enemies than with the actual bosses... You know whose fights were sicknasty? Dark Samus in Echoes. The reactor fight and the elevator fight were so cool. Not terribly difficult, but the setting and the cut scenes were Exceptionally Awesome. Metroids are not pets.

Re: Whats your favorite metroid enemy?Crawltanks. Annoying because whenever I try to kill one they always go into hypermode the split second before the shot that would have obliterated them lands.
Every. Fucking. Time. |
|
Re: Whats your favorite metroid enemy?
Yeah... they're well known to do that. Annoying little buggers. |
|
Re: Whats your favorite metroid enemy?Crawltanks! That's them. My problem was they'd go Hyper the split second I entered the room; I didn't even have time to register that there was a baddie to shoot.
They weren't hard to beat, but the Jolly Roger drones made me laugh. Solely because of the name. What was fun, though, was to take those flying drones on Elyssia that you're supposed to rip in half, and use the grapple voltage to refill your health. It's like being a Metroid! ![]() Metroids are not pets.

Re: Whats your favorite metroid enemy?Rezbits from Metroid Prime 2. Not sure why, i just love fighting them. I also like fighting Omega metroid in Metroid fusion, such an epic boss battle!

Re: Whats your favorite metroid enemy?I think a lot of people here liked fighting them. I know I did.

Re: Whats your favorite metroid enemy?JESUS FUCK
Internet Explorer (don't even start) failed to upload the page and deleted my comment, which was epic and huge. So, whereas I mentioned like fifteen memorable baddies in my original post, I'll just mention one. Crateria's Geemer mimic. You know, the one that follows you. I don't know why, but he REALLY creeped me out. It's hard to pick favorites. I'm very impartial to begin with, and Metroid is absolutely teeming with memorable enemies. |
