Perhaps with a Middleastern conflict and an Asian conflict? Iran's kind of taken North Korea's place on the radar, but I do feel there's some tension all over. I don't know, I have this overwhelming feeling that the world is bending to a breaking point at times. Maybe I just don't know how much it can take... but it can be a powerful premonition. Depending on what happens, we may already have.

Well, if we attack Iran, we might. Our warhawk policy is getting scarier all the time. I hope so. Germany is one of the most peaceful countries except when Hitler took over.
It certainly is peaceful now, but it was violent before Hitler. Germany was a violent mess, that's part of why the Nazis came to power.

Yeah. I don't even want to think about WWIII. I'm too worried about the tectonic plates grinding like ravers all over the place. I have friends and family on the west coast that I'd rather not be in that kind of situation. I feel kind of bad for Germany. On one hand I laugh because I'm like "LAWL NAZIS," because nazis can be the legitimate butt of many jokes, but on the other hand I'm sure the people of Germany feel some tremendous guilt about the matter, similar to white Americans in regards to slavery. What a horrible stain on their history. But from what I've heard Germany is a beautiful, happy place with very delicious food. *drools at the thought of legit braunschweiger* Dangit, now I'm hungry. Guess I could heat up some old soup but it's... old soup...

Did you see, or read about, Valkerie? WWII pretty much ended with a German uprising. Yeah, they aren't too proud of what their countrymen did, but they're making up for it. Their modern army is based on the German resistance even. And just for the record, Nazi /= German, German /= Nazi.

Actually, Germans try very hard to make people think of the German Resistance as being a movement of the people (it's why Germany allowed that film to be filmed there) when in reality, if the Germans had won World War 2, the Nazis would have been seen as great revolutionaries and Hitler as savior of the world. It's a very uncomfortable truth. And it's ridiculous to make fun of present day Germans for Nazism. There was plenty of American Nazis too. World War Two ended with the surrender of Japan by the way. Their modern army is based on the German resistance even.
No it's not, because if it was, it'd be a small force made up of senior citizens. It's a conscript based military actually.

Well yes, that's always true no matter what, and generally the real history isn't shown until decades after an event or period, it's just how it works.
It's an uncomfortable fact, but the majority of Germans, many Americans and generally many people in the world saw the Nazis as saviors of civilization and agreed with Nazi ideals and views. If the Nazis had won, we wouldn't really know much of their concentration camps and extermination policies and we'd think the Jews and communist and such were all dead because the Nazis heroically defeated enemies of the world.
It's why Germans to this day love promoting the German resistance.

A country and its people don't always agree. If Germany had won the war, then the Nazis would have retained control of Germay, so yeah, maybe you're right. But the point is, not all Germans were Nazis.

I think you mean to say people and leadership don't always agree. Well, yeah that's true but it's not true in Nazi Germany. Most people obviously supported the Nazis. The Nazi leadership, and Adolf Hitler especially were charismatic and inspirational people, similar to FDR and the New Dealers. They very much captured the public imagination and trust in Germany. If Germany had won the war, then the Nazis would have retained control of Germay, so yeah, maybe you're right. But the point is, not all Germans were Nazis.
Well yes, the Jews, gays, atheist, communist etc were not Nazis, but we know what the Nazis did to them. The Nazis would have controlled pretty much all of Europe if they won, the pro Nazis (of which there were plenty) in the US would have used the defeat as a rallying call to take over the US, maybe militarily (there was the Business plot after all) and Japan, Germany and the US would have invaded China and Russia to destroy the communist and install friendly regimes. Religion would play a major part over pretty much everyones life, with religions like Shintoism and Christianity becoming state sanctioned, it's what the Nazis and Japanese wanted. All and all, by this time, people would see the Nazis as brave revolutionaries who saved the world. It's an uncomfortable truth, but truth nonetheless.

Well, same here. Just because we view something bad now doesn't mean people viewed it bad back then.
