Okay, so another admin on Wikitroid, Piratehunter, is a pro at Metroid 2, and he wants to remake it as a hack of Super Metroid, because he doesn't like the Zero Mission style remakes (yes that includes AM2R). So, I am acting as a sort of spriter. This is kind of difficult for me as I only usually recolor sprites and not remake them from scratch. But I'll try. This hack will be pretty much true to the original (aka almost an exact remake with almost no changes) but there are some differences: *There are now 59 Metroids instead of the original 49 *A map *The items will stay the same (no Gravity Suit) *After the queen is beat, and the hatchling hatches, it is shown that she did not die, and she pursues you to the top, trying to kill you. You have to stall her with Missiles and eventually trap her in a cavern of SR388's lava (which I consider to actually be Metroid excrement. Yes, Metroid poo). *JUSTIN BAILEY!!!!!! (and yes the sprites are from Super Justin. The creator authorizes use of his sprites, unless it's for a nude hack (which it isn't).) Anyway here are my reworks of the Justin Bailey sprites (with the normal suits for comparison): (did that even show up?) Admin Edit -- fixed your link. --IE

Nope. And the hidden link wants me to log in to Yahoo. And Flickr tells me the folder is private.

IMO, either make changes and make it your own, or leave it alone and do a perfect remake. Saying that you are staying true to the original BUT adding a chase scene at the end (and ruining a unique and beautiful ending) and that you are adding 10 Metroids just doesn't make any sense.

I agree with Dragonheart. Either remake the original perfectly or make it your own

Also, if you've played Metroid: Confrontation (which is a demo of AM2R), you'll know that you can edit the sprites. Heck, they already made a mod for it that uses SM sprites.

We're not adding 100 Metroids, the game won't be so hard anymore, and you still have the classic scene where Samus and the hatchling enter the gunship. The queen won't pursure you that far.

How come people are bashing this already? I think it sounds pretty cool. At least if it's done right. And what's so wrong about adding a chase-scene? Though I don't think it was a good idea to spoil that. It'd be nicer as a surprise.
Thanks to Kaiser for the sig and avatar.

Indeed. If I google for a SM hack, I don't want something different contaminating the search results. If you decide to deviate your hack from the original SM, please let its title make that clear.

Metroids do not generate excretement. Life energy does not have a physical form, so a Metroid's physiology would not need to create "bad stuff" to excrete. Besides, they also don't have a poop hole. If you think about it, you could imagine the Chozo would have engineered Metroids to just harness and store the life energy inside of them, period. They are a "perfect" organism, since the energy storing capabilities of the Metroids doesn't create bi-products. But I'm getting off-topic.

I'll praise it when I see years of effort put into it, fangames always have a promising start. No offense.

I hate to say it, but I agree with you. While a LOT of fangames do sound awesome at the start, I think like 30% of them don't get finished, and another 30% just suck.

I hate to say it, but I agree with you. While a LOT of fangames do sound awesome at the start, I think like 95% of them don't get finished, and another 80% of the ones which are finished just suck.
