Metroid Clear Timeshmmm. i didn't see a thread about clear times so i decided to make one basically all you have to do is put down what game you played and your end time (try to get a picture) see below

Re: Metroid Clear TimesI've maybe once beaten Zero Mission in under two hours.
Yeah, I'm really slow. Maybe it's because I never understood the point of speeding as fast as you can through a wonderful game world full of secrets to discover. ![]()

Re: Metroid Clear TimesI agree. I always hated the time thing in metroid games. It just doesn't work for an exploration game full of secrets.
Hmm, maybe I should mention that on the "things you never liked about metroid" thread. |

Re: Metroid Clear TimesThe fastest time I cleared metroid prime 3 with 100 percent is 7:14 I think I might have a faster time but I cant recall is that good or kinda slow.
Their is no such thing as intelligence only varying degrees of stupid.

Re: Metroid Clear TimesCleared Super Metroid in 48 minutes. That was many years ago and I can't find the game anymore
|

Re: Metroid Clear TimesI beat fusion any percent in 1 hour and 9 minutes.
You have to admit that we're all a little crazy. Sometimes it's just more noticable in others.

Re: Metroid Clear TimesAs you can see, I tend to just go for 100% times. Skipping items feels like skipping parts of the game to me - just a weird little quirk in me I suppose. The ZM and fusion times were fairly recently obtained, but super was quite a while ago. I'm lucky to do better than 1:10 100% on Super right now. The time on Prime is not that great because it doesn't utilize any sequence breaks. I have no idea what my best times for MP2 and MP3 are.
Zero Mission 100% Normal 1:14:05 Fusion 100% 1:26 Prime 100% Normal, natural route 3:36 Metroid 2 RoS 100% 1:51 Super Metroid 100% 1:05 I hear you guys that think speeding through the game for time's sake is strange, but I really don't know how else to play it once every corner has been explored and every secret has been learned. Once the thrill of discovery is gone, there's nothing left to do! ![]() |

Re: Metroid Clear TimesNot too sure if either of you feels like helping (@ GF_Kennon/Opium)
I have been trying to beat my best time in super metroid for a while even if it means by a second. My best time is 1:12 GF_Kennon, could you please re-post your vid? it did not work. I have set limitations for myself though... Including: No mock ball/ murder beam/ wall jump phasing(like the zeebites)/bluesuit/ arm pumping/etc. No glitching out the game! Any items can or cant be collected, having a hard time with the no grapple runs, I cant get the shinespark to the wrecked ship to work I don't count the quick charge speed boost as a glitch...I basically want the fastest time i can achieve without cheating. If I could do a no grapple run, it would save allot of time. If you don't feel like giving advice that is fine, but if you could help a little i would appreciate it. Re: Metroid Clear TimesI would learn how to mockball. There are several good videos on youtube that explain it well.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRzGoAdNbYs Once you've done it a couple of times, it becomes very simple and can be used in SO many places that you will wonder how you ever played without it. The best reason for learning it is to get early super missiles in green brinstar and can skip spore spawn. This will save ALOT of time. I don't consider mockball to be a glitch at all. Shinesparking over to the wrecked ship is a great time saver even if you have grapple. Stand as far left as you can on the right-side platform in the missile lake room, and run to the right - but don't press the run button until after you've taken a couple of steps. Waiting to press run after you've made a couple of steps makes you go into speed-boost much sooner and you will have plenty of time to hold the charge before you hit the water. Those are the two biggest things I can think of that can save a significant amount of time with minimal effort. I would also watch some runs and TAS's for some other ideas on how to get through each room the fastest. ![]() |

Re: Metroid Clear TimesI can do all the tricks. I have known how to mock ball for a while now. I would agree that it saves time getting the super missiles early skipping spore spawn.
However, doing so requires you to skip spore spawn. I'm wanting to speed run, not sequence break. I consider the mock ball to be a glitch. I don't think it was intentionally put in the game. I never thought of shine sparking from that missile room before since i have never seen it done. I will try that... However if preformed correctly in the room with the Ki hunters you can shinespark into the missile tank and through the door if you fire a missile in the room before shinesparking It is just really hard to do. Because you have to jump without triggering the shinespark, walk into the missile room, fire a super missile. Then shinespark It is the only technique I cant preform in the game. Although I have wondered if fighting Draygon without electrocuting her is really a good idea Maybe it is better to just get the grapple beam. I wish doing that shinespark were easier Those who follow rules, have failed to follow their hearts.-Me

Re: Metroid Clear TimesGetting your charge by running in the room with the ki-hunters, firing a super missile across the lake, shinesparking into the missile expansion, etc IS a difficult trick that I can only pull off once in every 10 tries, so I avoid it and just run from the platform to the right of the missile expansion.
You say you want to speed run but not sequence break, yet sequence breaking is almost what speed running is about, so I'm confused. Are you saying that you want to speed run and go for 100% ? Or a speed run that only sticks with the intended item order? You could always mockball to grab all those goodies early, and still go to spore spawn. Having the supers early will save you time during the spore spawn fight and it helps when opening the red doors along the way to getting the intended first supers. ![]() |

Re: Metroid Clear TimesI realized that halfway through what I was saying on the last post
I guess I'm trying to say I did not use any mock ball (or any glitches) on my best speed run...I could not even wall jump up straight up walls that good then. So I think I could shave off allot of time doing that shinespark. In my 1:12 run I did not get several energy tanks I think I had 6, only enough missiles/super missiles to defeat mother brain (in tank)/break through doors/zeebites. And I had the grapple beam. I killed every boss and mini boss. I'm just giving myself limitations for fun since I have seen people use all the glitch exploits...I'm just staying true to my play style because it is fun. In short I want to fight the boss enemies in order...I'm mostly looking for anything that someone might have figured out on their own to make shinesaprking a bit easier. I know you cancel/reset it while shooting mid air during a spin jump. then try and shinespark in air... I will get back to this later Those who follow rules, have failed to follow their hearts.-Me

Re: Metroid Clear TimesFor Super Metroid, I have 99% with the time at 1:20ish. I need to find one more Missile to get 100%. For Metroid Prime, my best one right now is 4:23 with 100% items and scans. However, I have another one right now, and I only need two more Missile Tanks to get 100%. This would be my new record, which would be under 4 hours. I still need to find the rest of the scans, too. For Zero Mission, I know it's under 2 hours for both Normal and Hard Mode, and both have 100% items. As for Metroid Fusion, well that's not my best one, and it's been a while since I have played it. Something happened to my game, so I had to start all over. I did have 100%, though. I recently learned how to perform the Mockball. I just need to learn how to use it like RedScarlet did with her 100% items and 0:55 time.

Re: Metroid Clear TimesI used to have pictures of these, back when you would send your times into Nintendo Power to (hopefully) get published.
I really only remember two times for certain, but I've done extremely well on all of the Metroid titles. Super Metroid - 1:18 with roughly 60% (MANY years ago) Metroid Prime - 3:43 with 100% itmes and 100% scans (this one actually took serious planning and, believe it or not, patience) I hope Other M gives me the same desire/opportunity to do speed runs the old fashioned way. |
