He's probably talking from the point of view of the manual from Metroid 1 contradicting ZM. But since it contradicts most of the series in one way or the other, the NES Metroid Manual is to be taken with a grain of salt.

Well, this thread is... bland, we all know Zero mission it's what happend in Metroid only with better graphics, actual size bosses and a "what happened" next bonus segment. I'm surprised the mods didn't bust this.

Well here's the short and simple of it all:

Zero Mission IS Metroid.

In essence, they are one and the same. One does not invalidate the other; they are essentially now meant to be taken as the same thing. This means that both are definitely canon.

ZM is canon, get over it. It's a dumb question to ask to begin with and doesn't need further discussion.
ZM is an "extended" or maybe "embellished" version of the original Metroid.
Here's some other synonyms for you:

Re-imagining
Re-envisioning
Reiteration
Resurrection?

If you don't know what any of those words mean, dictionary.com. Case closed.
