Ok...this is probably a silly idea, but what the heck.
What are the first ten items you get in the original Metroid (Not ZM)? Don't list where they are, just what the items are. I'll go first.
1. Morphball 2. Missile 3. E-Tank 4. Bombs 5. Ice beam 6. Long Beam 7. Varia Suit 8. Missile 9. E-Tank 10. Jump Boots

So, uh... Now that you've answered your own question (lol ), do we get to make up another one or something?

Looks like you just did...so to answer your question: yes.
And now for something completely different?

I was just wondering what order people got them in.

I think he wanted confirmation of the order of the items in Metroid. Anyhow, now that that's done... THREAD INVASION!!! Let's turn this into something a little more fun: What was the very first sequence break you performed, item-wise? For me, it was learning how to bypass the Long Beam in Zero Mission and getting the Missiles and Charge Beam early. Super useful, that.

Which trick do you use to obtain the Varia before the High-Jump Boots?

Guys, you DO realize that you can get the items in tons of different orders, which is the entire point of this thread?
As in, what are the first ten items YOU get? It's probably going to be different for everyone. Or some people, anyway.
I would contribute, but I don't play the original enough to have a specific order in which I obtain items.

1. Morph Ball 2. Missles 3. Bombs 4. I don't remember the rest, Higgs would be dissapointed in me

Oh in that case My order is usually
Morph Ball, Missile, E-Tank, Bomb, Ice Beam, Long Beam, Varia, Hi Jump, Screw Attack, Wave Beam. Ridley, Kraid, Icebeam. Sometimes I just skip the wave beam.

Thanks everyone for understanding the point of my thread. Sorry if it seemed a bit obtuse...or pointless.
When I started playing Metroid back in 1988 I always went to Kraid first...and it was a bitch. For some reason I just thought that the level would be easier than Norfair since Norfair was all fire and lava. I managed to beat it that way so I know there is more than one way through the game. I guess I was just wondering what people find is their preferred method. Turns out that my route is identical to Plas Durock's and probably like most other players I would assume.
And Jesse D....like Plas I'm sure...I get the Varia early by shooting the blocks in the hallway below and having the waver in the hallway fly up through the opening. Once he is in the area above you can freeze him and jump to the door. It was the first sequence break I ever learned in the Metroid series.

Hehe, I don't even do that with the waver to get the Varia, I use bombs and then use the explosion to boost my jump I refuse to use glitches such as using doors to go through ceilings.

If I were that good at bomb jumping I might do it that way too...but freezing the waver takes almost no time...at least compared to me trying to bomb my way up to the door. That being said, I'm going to go ahead and give it a try.
