STRANGE PHENOMENA OCCURRED DURING THE DEVELOPMENT OF FAMITAN?!
Please tell me if there are any more episodes regarding Famitan.
Sakamoto: (With a serious expression) A good many injuries happened.
Osawa: It was a curse...
Sakamoto: There were many people who injured their heads.
What?! Did something drop off the shelves suddenly?
Sakamoto: If something dropped, it was the office's electricity suddenly cutting out... When I was writing the scenario, I was left in the offices by myself. And then I thought, "It's around 10:00; I should go home!" and just as I was about to go home, I wrote, "A girl crying blood..." and BAM! the lights cut out and the office was pitch black!
Sakamoto: Then in the pitch darkness, I heard some strange footsteps, "Clump, clump, clump..." and I thought, "I'm gonna die here."
Sakamoto: And I looked back, and it was my coworker! (Laughs) It was the guy who was doing the art design, and he told me, "Aaah, they just shut them off." At that time, we just changed our development building, and nothing was working properly, so after he said, "When it gets this late, the lights are turned off!" I got angry and said, "Why didn't they tell me sooner!" (Laughs)
Everyone: (Laughs uproariously)
Osawa: The old security guard suddenly cut off the lights! (Laughs)
Sakamoto: Yeah, that was it. But to tell the truth, at the time, I was hot-tempered. I got really angry.
But that's not a strange phenomenon.
Sakamoto: I helped. Hmm... But I don't know what was helpful about that! (Laughs)
Osawa: But the head injuries were serious. One guy on the development staff hit his head on a girder - GONG! There was a narrow passage beneath the overpass near our old main office.
That passage was on the right of the entrance to the old main office.
Osawa: Normally you had to duck your head when you walked through there, but...
Kiyotake: So I saw him and thought, "What?!"...
Sakamoto: Blood was just spurting out of his head. And when we told him, "Hey, there's blood gushing out of your head," that was the first time he noticed it himself. (Laughs)
Kiyotake: Truth is, it was dripping like he was crying blood. And then, everyone said something like, "He'll take your blood!" and avoided him. We were cursed! (Laughs)
Osawa: So that was a story about a guy crying blood, but to check for problems with Famitan, truth is, we had him play the game. So he was playing it on a huge monitor, and Sakamoto and two others were watching him. And there was this place where the game wasn't progressing at all... And they thought, "Ahh, he's completely lost. But this isn't a tough spot, so why is he having so much trouble?" And when they asked him, "What's the trouble?" there was no response at all!
Osawa: Well, he was asleep! (Laughs)
Everyone: (Laughs uproariously)
Osawa: And that was why the game wouldn't continue! (Laughs)
Sakamoto: In those days, he worked all night to debug and weed out problems, so he got tired.
Osawa: However, every time he pulled an all-nighter we told him, "Go to bed!" (Laughs)
Sakamoto: Well, this is story from my manager, but when this same guy checked for bugs, it seemed like he'd fallen asleep partway through. And then, his eyes would pop open, he thought, "Aaah, did it do anything?" and after he pressed the A button, there was a message that came up on the screen saying, "Hurry up! You're late!" After he said, "This game can do anything!" we told him "No, no." It was things like that! (Laughs)
