The new Dread Report has dropped and it’s all about the Chozo species and their involvement in this new Chapter of Metroid. While brief, it definitely leaves us with more questions than answers. October 8th feels so far! Vol.7 of the Dread Report ends with a tease of the next volume, planet ZDR!

A new, fantastic interview with the lead designer of the Metroid Prime Trilogy, Mike Wikan, has been released by Australian tech podcaster, Kiwi Talks. The interview is pretty detailed, and Mike talks about the intricacies of the game’s history, talks about game design and working in development, as well as sheds some details into his personal life. It’s definitely worth a watch/listen for all Prime fans.

Here’s some art of the Chozo warriors taken from the Japanese Dread site, which is obviously way more well made and better looking than anything us lowly Americans get. (Once again if you decide to go, there are HUGE spoilers!)

A few have speculated that these may be Torizo and not living, breathing Chozo, but take a look at their hands and feet – those are very organic looking. I believe they are indeed living Chozo that Samus must battle in the game!

The good news first. Metroid Dread Report Vol. 6 has released today and HOOOO BOY it is more mind-blowing and spoilery than ANYTHING they’ve released thus far. If this doesn’t get you excited for Dread, nothing will.

And now, the bad news.

We’ve gotten word that Prime 2D, the Metroid Prime-inspired 2D remake, has been canceled and is no longer available for download, along with the soundtrack. Here’s the final words from Troid92, the game’s director, which was posted on Reddit and is now deleted:

This comes as no surprise, seeing how Nintendo treated AM2R, and while we are deeply saddened and disappointed, let’s hope the team goes on to create something amazing. Prime 2D’s engine, graphics and sound, and design is proof that there was a lot of talent behind this fangame. I wish the whole team the best of luck on their future endeavors.

Hello everyone, I have been making Metroid videos for some time now, and am extremely honored to be able to share some of my work on this great site.
I hope that I can entertain you all in the future with some videos about our favorite series! Thanks for watching.

Our favorite LEGO Ideas creator, L-DI-EGO, is at it again, this time with a Metroid Dread themed playset titled, “METROID DREAD: E.M.M.I. CHASE

From the LEGO Ideas page:

Developed by Mercury Steam Entertainment, “Metroid Dread” is the upcoming 5th and final chapter in the (35 year-old!) genre-defining video game franchise “Metroid”, created by Nintendo.

This building toy features the main protagonist and the new antagonist from the game, plus a modular scenery based on the game’s “E.M.M.I. Zones”, which can be configured in multiple ways.
  • Includes a detailed minifigure of Samus Aran’s new Dread Power Suit. A wig hairpiece is also included to display her without her helmet.
  • Includes a collectable Samus’ “Dread” Morph Ball.
  • Includes a buildable E.M.M.I. figure with a high level of poseabilitty, featuring accurate articulation points.
  • Use the additional LEGO bricks to customize the E.M.M.I. as any of the variants that will be seen in “Metroid Dread”: Damaged, white, green, yellow, etc.
  • Use the introduced LEGO Metroid Modular Scenery System to create your own video game layout.
  • Assorted Modules include an E.M.M.I. Zone door, 2 E.M.M.I. Zone platforms, A small Artaria rock platform, an interactive Arm Cannon terminal and 5 Spider Magnet cubes. Decorative side elements include 4 background pilars, 2 handrail sections and a background exhaust/ventilation fan.
  • Only minifigures like Samus can step through the E.M.M.I. Zone door (This function has been tested with real LEGO elements).
  • Add the trans-red elements to the sides of the E.M.M.I. Zone door to display it as “locked”.
  • Use the new Spider Magnet (and the Clutch Power) ability to climb the trans-blue walls.
  • Use the additional elements to upgrade Samus’ arm cannon as the Omega Blaster or the Omega Stream.
  • Combine multiple copies of the set to build an even greater E.M.M.I. Zone.

Can you help Samus use the Speed Booster and the Shinespark so she can reach the final goal of 10,000 supporters in record time?

Support the project so they can achieve their newest mission accomplished at 100%
